Default Another Europe Trip Thread (150+ photos)

Took a 3 week trip trhough London, Amsterdam (No photos), Paris, Nice, Belfast, London-Derry, Ballintoy, Balley Castle and Edinburgh with the girlfriend. Here is a sample of some of the photos.

***London***

1. Random Building in London

2. Another Building

3. The Bus Tour! It was VERY cold up top.

4. Hyde Park near our Hostel

5. At the Queens palace during the changing of the guards

6. The Gates to the Palace. Wasn’t a good spot to take a photo of the actual palace.

7. The Royal Band marching

8. The Guards

***In the British Museum***

9. Parts of the Parthenon

10. More Parthenon

11. More from the Parthenon. These were taken from the outside
Front of the building during a war.

12. More Greece stuff

13.

14. Greek Heads!

15. I forget the name of the writing but it’s old. Egyptian I think.

16. Egyptians loved them and they haven’t gotten over them selves since!

17. A real mummy (The UK has more Egyptian artifacts than Egypt does!)

18. I don’t know...

19.

20.

21. The Rosetta stone

22.

23.

24.

25.

26.

27. Indoor courtyard of the British Museum

***Paris***

28. Hmmm.. Wonder what’s further down this road?

29. Huge! But not going up tonight. They won’t let you up with glass bottles..

31. Sculpture/pot in the gardens below the tower.

31. The Gardens below the tower

32. Good-bye for today!

33. Hungry? This is the street for FOOD!

34. And Bread!

35. And Desert!

36. And the reason we couldn’t go up the tower! Cheap Wine!

37. Notre Dame!

38. Detail Shot 1

39. Detail shot 2

40. The Center Window

41. One of the Archways

42. Insane amounts of detail!

43. Note the demon cheating the scales.

44. EXTREMELY Dark on the inside.

45. Also extremely depressing.

46.

47.

48.

49.

50. A very large chandelier that was on display.

51. Zero Point, the "center" of Paris.

52. On our way to the WWII memorial we passed an EXCELLENT jazz band in the street.

53. Walking into the WWII memorial. (Note all the flowers)

54. Descend the stairs into this...

55. Opposite of the spikes.. Wonder what’s in there?

56. Thousands of glowing crystals behind large bars, representing the thousands that were deported to concentration camps.

57. Concentration Camp names are in each of the triangles

58. The view leaving...

59. The view from across the river.

60. One of the hundreds of used book stands on the street.

61. Hmmmm... This photo was taken hundreds of feet below the city of Paris in the catacombs... I wonder what’s in here?

62. Oh my...

63. Yes they are real and are very old...

64. Words can not describe this place..

65. Endless amounts of dead souls represented here.

66.

67. The next day on the surface...

68. Versailles Palace

69. Standing in line...

70. Still in line...

71. Finally inside!

72. Whoa.. The ceilings! They are like that in EVERY room!

73. One of the King Louis...

74. Same one older, I think

75. That’s real gold. A lot of the ceiling and walls have been gold leafed

76. Public Bedroom, King went to bed here so the public could watch. (How boring) lol

77. Those ceilings again!

78. Louis again. He had a thing for himself and war..

79. Hall of Mirrors (Mirrors were a rare thing back in the day)

80. Paintings!

81. HUGE painting!

82. The Napoleon!

83. A section of the gardens behind the palace.

84. Green things in a fountain!

85. See where the land meets the sky? The gardens don’t even end there! This place is huge..

86. The king wanted canals like Italy so he had one made that was a mile long and captured Italians to man the boats. Why? Because he could. It is good to be king. Now you can rent some boats for an un-godly amount.

87. Everyone is just chillin on the lawn. (Random German woman)

88. There were at one point over 300 fountains.. Today there are only like 130ish. Here is a couple.

89. The other

90. Finally made it to the Eiffel tower!

91. By the time we made it to the 3rd level (very top) it was dark

92. The white streak is the large lights on top of the tower... like a light house, but not.

93.

94. On the 1st level, looking inward to the other leg of the tower.

95. SPARKLES!!!

96. Napoleon's Tomb

97.

98. The view from the front door.

99. The Gigantic Coffin

100. There are other tombs inside as well.

101. The inside of the dome. The outside of the dome contains almost 30lbs of gold.

102.

103. The entrance into the Louver Museum

104. Going down the glass pyramid

105. The only photo I took on the inside because it’s not very photo friendly. A lot of things you cant take photos of (Mona Lisa) but the girl wanted a photo of this so ill post it as well.

106. Arch de triumph, the craziest Round-about in Europe.

107. Huge French flag.

108. Unknown soldier’s memorial.

109. Our Lady Liberty is pictured here.. She’s the ugly one with her mouth wide open.

110.

111. Another old church

112. For Justin (b18apwr)

113. This is what most streets in Paris looked like.

114. Moulin Rouge!

***Nice***

115. Nice is Nice!

116. Not near as warm as it looks..

117. I was reminded of Bad Boys II the Movie...

118.

119. Fresh Flower Market every morning!

120. Fresh seafood market as well!

121. The Chateau (where the first photos were taken from)

122. All you need to know is that you get to take stairs 90 meters high!

123. Crazy traffic!

124. Half way up!

125. Some funky trees up here.

126. These never stop...

130. The surprise at the top!

***Ireland***

131. Has the last bus run for the day and you are stuck with no place to sleep and the next town is 10 miles over the hill? Why Hitchhike! Thankfully someone picked us up pretty quickly.

132. Bally Castle North Atlantic Shore

134. It was so beautiful.

135. It as nice to just explore the empty shore and walk though the sand.

136. Must be nice to live there...

137. Ohhh, I want one!

138.

139. I lol'ed

140. Some good ole' Irish water!

141. This pub had an Irish band playing. I could have stayed there all night but it was getting late.

142. On to Carrick-A-Rede!

143. Also known as the rope bridge.. Very scary to cross!

144. Then to Giants Causeway!

145. A little closer this time.

146.

147. The End!

No tour, no plan really. Just taking trains, ferries, busses, planes all across and finding somewhere to sleep on the fly for the most part.. Slept in Airports a few nights, lol. Hardcore cheap!

There is a lot of Greek antiques in Britain because of the Ottoman Empire (Nowadays Turkey) invading and conquering Greece. There was a British general involved and he (as the Greeks that I met and talked to) stole the pieces of the Parthenon and other statues from Greece.

Greece has been fighting through diplomacy to get those back for a long time.

My wife's father is Greek and he was very upset and passionate about it.. heh.
