Montly Stickied FS thread...
The Itr section has a monthly stickied fs thread to keep the rest of the forum clean.
Might not be a bad idea seeing 4 -5 fs threads get locked here.

FS = For Sale
We tried the sticky up top. It did not work. Stupid noobs still made new threads and it cluttered the forum. I don't see a sticky happening again. Just follow the rules and post in the marketplace. This will be locked, I am sure...

Actually no we didn't. We had one for sale thread that got too big and too hard to follow. The stuff that got posted early was forgotten about on the first 6 pages, where as the current portion of the thread was on page 725907835
The ITR forum does it the same.
My suggestion is to have a moderator keep one FS/WTB thread going MONTHLY. Once the current month is over, lock down the thread and start a new one for the new month. Anyone that sells anything outside of that one thread gets his/her thread dumped. This keeps the FS thread fresh and up to date for those that want to post the same thing FS month-to-month until their part sells.
I absolutely hate selling S2K stuff here on H-T.com's general FS forum. S2000 parts are not in great demand as far as this WHOLE site is concerned and threads pertaining to S2000 stuff gets crammed onto page 3 within 5 minutes. On the other hand, when I sell stuff from my Integra, I usually get something sold within a day or two.
I tend to have good stuff to sell (and at GREAT prices) and unfortunately for those here at H-T.com that think S2Ki.com blows, they miss out the stuff I have. Things of example were Mugen S1 seat, multiple sets of MF10s, Mugen FRP hardtop, Mugen 3 piece wing, Mugen ECU, and much more.
I'm a CO over at S2Ki's UMW forum and we were getting cluttered with individual FS threads. The monthly FS thread idea has been a blessing for us. Oh yeah, we started to "sticky" the thread and ended up seeing a lot more 'rogue' FS threads starting. I'm guessing that people aren't in the habit of looking at the multiple stickied thread at the top of a page. The moment we unstickied it, people started posting in it again. It's also is almost nearly always at the top anyway because people are always either selling or looking for something.
Just a thought and a suggestion.

Its not the fact its a monthly/weekly/yearly anything.
when the FS thread was started, we got probably 5 times as many individual FS threads.
not gonna happen.

Sorry to disagree...but you can't claim it to fact if you haven't tried it or don't have any objective data. The FS thread that was stickied here the last time it was attempted was a cluster **** to begin with. Aside from the rule of only posting FS stuff in that one thread, there were no other expectations set. Re-read what I typed earlier, I don't want to rewrite what I think was wrong with the stickied FS thread that lived as long as it did.
In my experience, the non-stickied monthly FS thread in the UMW forum has helped us tremendously over on S2Ki. That regional forum on its own is more active and has more individual posters than the S2000 forum here. From following the UMW forum lead, other regional forums are now doing the same with much success.
Basically we set a standard and make sure everyone abides by it. It level sets an expectation, and if we have to dump any threads, it's only a couple or so every month. Moderating comes with the territory when signed up for it. If it's too much work, I either have to set new rules or hand off my responsibilities to someone that can handle them.
If you don't care to take another look at this issue, that's fine; that's your perrogative. However, I think not having the ability to easily deal (sell and buy) from others you converse with daily is really a detriment to building a better, bigger, and closer community of S2K owners here at H-T.com*. It's the sole reason I don't sell or buy S2000 parts on H-T.
*Building online communities is something I know very much about. I've been doing it since the very beginning of the HondaPrelude.com days (which was one of the first active threaded discussion boards on the internet), S2Ki.com, on S2KCA, and a few more.

oh boy,
i appreciate your concern, i really do, but from the very first second the last thread was allowed, the other FS posts skyrocketed. before it was a 'cluster'. so dont come in here saying i dont have any objective data. I know the avgs of FS thread before and after the sticky.
Im not really concerned about s2ki or any other forum for that matter. This is a TECHNICAL forum, and Honda-tech is a rather large community. any forum coming up on 200,000 is vastly different than smaller forums. so you cant even begin to compare.
the main reason why i will not allowed such a thread is because this site gets so much traffic, you will have too many people signing up just to sell things. and we saw just that infact.
it would be one thing if people contributed continuously to this forum, that would be another thing. but when people are just going to pollute the forum with fs. and not contribute to the original ideology of a technical forum, then sorry, it will not fly here.

Different strokes for different forums, I guess.
The ITR forum is more than a forum. It's really a community of its own and is really disjoint from the rest of H-T.com. Even though its supposed to be solely a technical forum like this S2000 forum, there is much more ITR related "conversation" on everything else ITR.
The S2000 community here is becoming to be that but doesn't have its own autonomy like the ITR forum. Rightfully trying to put a "structure" on 200k+ members on a site that caters to 10+ different Honda models is understandable, however, some allowances should/could be made towards those communities that cater to a more mature crowd of owners (alluding to the ITR, NSX, and S2000 communities).
There aren't 200K+ members in the S2000 forum, so comparing H-T's S2000 forum to a regional forum over at S2Ki definitely is comparable (and not to be a sole S2Ki.com supporter, having 47,000+ registered members on a site that caters to only 1 Honda car is quite a feat..... Each S2000-centered site (S2Ki, H-T, and S2KCA) has its advantages and disadvantages. There's a reason why there's members at each. My concern here is that H-T has some advantages to grow the S2000 member-base. )
As a note, the S2KCA community grew out of their public FS/WTB forum. The more people posted stuff for sale, the more people came to the site. The more people came to the site, the more people stayed. The more that stayed, the more active it became. The more active it became, the more members it drew.
Seriously, if you think people only come to the S2000 forum here for "technical" help and to post "technical" findings, a quick glance at the forum shows how untrue that is. S2Ki and S2KCA have been around so long and have so many combined users that really, there aren't many "technical" topics that haven't been covered that would likely be addressed/reported here.
Really this topic isn't all that serious, I'm only "counter-pointing" with you to be conversational, not argumentative or in any form of attack, so please don't take it as such.
In anycase, I think this topic may be getting old and others (including yourself) are probably getting tired of this discussion....back to S2000 stuff and other S2000 topic. Take care.

I agree with most stuff...but that website is a dedicated s2000 website and the key thing is it has multiple sections within that forum. The way I look at is like this. You have to post thing for sale in the for sale section on s2ki.com same thing goes here. There is a technical section on s2ki.com that's what this section of honda-tech.com is. Nothing more nothing less. So what I don't understand is if someone is looking for s2000 parts whether it be in the so cal section or regular for sale section. Just label the title on your thread with a s2000. The search on this forum works fairly well and if you place that in the search it will find the s2000 parts that are for sale. I don't see what's so hard about that...I guess people like to argue just for the sake of arguing...
I'm deleting/moving any for sale threads to the brown hole. I'm also deducting 2% for each thread or banning the user.
Parts slingers get the same treatment and there is no difference in for sale threads and "where to find this part for a good deal or lowest price" threads.
Lastly, wtf is up with "testing waters" threads? You either want to sell it or you don't, either way, -2% or ban.
