EMERGENCY CAR TROUBLE/ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I own a 1993 Honda Accord LX and I stopped the other day to get some food and i was in the drive thru and turned off my car cause of the long line. When i went to start it up again IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER!!!!!!! when i initially started it up it started and went up to 1500 or so RPM and then immideately dropped to 0.... Tried it a couple more times and it would try to but wouldn't turn over (i also pumped the gas pedal a couple times). I Took out the keys and put em back in to start it and it did. I immideately went home (it drove normally) and got in the drive way and turned it off again. IT WOULDNT START AGAIN. I sat there and tried a few more times. NOTHING!!!!!!! I sat there and waited about 3-5 min. IT STARTED!!!!!!!! there wasn't a struggle when it did turn over. It just started right up like nothing was wrong. I looked at the temp gauge when i was at the drive thru and it was in the middle or slightly above (normal i think). I left the car alson and went inside. Later that night (maybe 2 hours after i turned it off i went to see if it would start up. It did. Like nothing was wrong (I started it up before i went to sleep and it started up again without hessitation. When i woke up to go to work i knocked on wood and tried to start it up. AGAIN NO PROBLEMS....It drove fine on my way to work. I got to work and turned the car off. Then back on. No problems. I will be leaving work and dont know if it will start or not but that is what was wrong with my car. Sorry about the long post but i figured the more detail the better. I am looking for technical support as i don't know all that much about cars except how to do basic service (i.e Brakes). Please only give responses if you REALLY know what your talking about. I think that some of the problems that Forums have is that People respond just to respond without any real knowledge about the post. Thanks ahead of time for any words of wisdom.....

 

My first though would be the main relay. When it does not start does it make any noise at all? Like your starter relay clicking? Was it hot outside when it would not start? When i had to replace my main it allways acted up in warmer weather.

 

it was about 4:30 pm in texas. about 90 degrees. it made noise when i tried to start it but it was like the noise you'd hear if you ran out of gas.

 

That sounds like your main relay. I CURRENTLY have this same problem, it's intermitant, and therefore almost completely unpredictable.

Here's one way to tell if your main relay is to blame: when you have trouble starting, open your door, lean out so you can hear what's going on underneath the car, and turn the key to "ON" (right before you crank the engine), you SHOULD hear the fuel pump prime. It sounds like a little electric whine or high pitched squeal. If you don't, then your main relay isn't working properly, as in it isn't telling the fuel pump to do its ******* job...lazy *** parts....No respect....
