Just heard that my friend's turbo 97 was destroyed this week. I'll try to find out more info (regarding badge number, etc.) and possibly pics. Something about losing control and hitting 2 poles and a tree. Not sure of other details at this point.

Motor was just finished being built (took him like 2 years for some reason) with K04 turbo (I think). Fast as hell.

Just a rant, it's too bad, such a nice car

thats a sad way to lose an investment...but fortunately your friend did walk away from the wreck.

 

I'm pretty sure he did. But the car is apparently a write-off. I know he's settled with insurance and is keeping the parts for now. Maybe to put in another RR??

and not to be a douche.. but if he's doing 200+ on public roads with oncoming traffic right beside him, it was probably only a matter of time before he stuffed the car into something. sorry mang.

Seems like there have been many threads all of a sudden about 97s recently, which is great... except in this context.

That really sucks to hear. Glad your friend walked away from the wreck, and I kinda feel for his long-term build now in a balled up R.. but I also agree with penpen.

I hope you're joking, I cant even hit 124 mph off any of the straghts of any of the main roadcourses here.

Hey, I'll pass your thoughts on to my friend, he'll appreciate it.

I don't know exactly how fast he was going at the time of accident, but I guess fast enough to loose control. I doubt 200 though, I think PenPen just said that to make a point.

Sad, but this always happens when people don't bother to learn how to drive in a controlled environment.

200km/h comes at about 6200 rpm in 5th, furthest ive gone is 240 and thats with another 1000rpm 2go

I dont think it is with the stock aerodynamics, but i sure as hell would like to see an R do 200+
