Why don't ya take out the passenger seat?
OK, so here's my situation: 95% of my driving time is spent commuting to work alone. The remaining 5% of the time I'm driving my girlfriend around. So, I'm thinking, why do I need the passenger seat? It's extra weight, and it blocks the access to the rear seat.
Taking it out was the best thing I did to the car. My girlfriend likes the tons and tons of legroom that opened up, and I love all the space that I can now use. I can carry boxes and other bulky items that wouldn't even fit in the trunk.

My only question is, why don't more people do it? And don't give me that "I need four seats" stuff - do you honestly try to fit people back there?

The back seat weighs like 2 pounds, where the front seat weighs much more. What I'm saying is that with the passenger seat in place, the back seat is pretty much useless. Take it out, and you still have a usable passenger seat + plenty of room.
Wait, so your GF sits in the backseat now?! LOL!
The weight loss is negligable, at best. If anyone complains about foot room, then I just won't let them ride with me. If you need more trunk space, get a truck.

I could be wrong, but I thnk the front seats are about 35 lbs each (4th gen anyhow....) It's a pretty good weight savings to take out a front seat, plus I can fit a 20 ft ladder in my car when i need to by taking out that seat, haha.

This is, quote possibly, the most retarded thing I've ever heard of.

I agree, taking the passanger seat out is great, but it looks tacky....I've had my passanger seat taken out for days at a time, cause I was busy wiring stuff and carrying my dogs around, so I didn't want them to expletive my leather seats up. You're right, it does create alot of room to carry things around
Probably better use for not having a front seat is that it would be reallllly easy to get a road bj.. my girlfriend brought that up the other night and i have been thinking about that same mod lol.

A gallon of gasoline weighs rougly 6-6.5lbs. How about you also run like 2 gallons at a time, instead of the full 16 gallons and save a ton of weight!

Ha, I actually do have a picture, but sadly it's on my other computer.
If you can imagine I don't really have anything on the inside of my car and it goes from the rear license plate to the passenger side floorboard!

My car is completely gutted also. Well almost complete, still working on it.
Passenger seat is gone also - and yes, it does free up a LOT of room. At one point, i had my door, fender, bumper, tool box, floor jack. scissor jack, and a bunch of random stuff in there.
