Default Exhaust for 1999 Accord V6 Coupe??? Need some help.

I am looking to get an exhaust for my 99 accord v6 coupe and have no idea what I am doing lol. I am mainly looking at ebay ones as I am new to doing stuff to cars. I do not want it to be to loud (ricey), I am more looking for a nice low tone. Any ideas? The cheaper the better. I was looking at the Bomz exhaust/muffler, are those any good? thanks

I know of one guy with the invidia on another board. He said they were awefully loud.
Just get some axlebacks. I had HKS and they ere really nice. I now have Greddy and they are a bit louder.

You can also try getting the TL/CL stock mufflers and putting those one without the premuffler. Those sound pretty nice as well. Theres clips on http://www.youtube.com if you want to hear some. Mine is on there as well.

Get Comptech axlebacks or the HKS ones.

What about the Bomz muffler or exhaust, I am not really looking to spend alot and not really looking for a full system. Just something nice and simple.

I'd stay away from eBay stuff. The inside being the packing seems to go out quickly from what I've heard. Most also sound ricey.

I have the Invidia that is posted above although mine is on a 4cyl and that thing is loud as expletive without the silencer in. With the silencer it's still loud but not as bad but sounds kind like an air leak noise with the silencer in.

Now there are a whole lot louder exhausts out there but this one is definately not quiet. No straight through design ones will be. If you want loud but not real high pitched I would reccomend the Invidia. If you don't want loud I'd look at the Apexi WS2 which is one of the quieter ones or a Greddy SP.

I'll post more on the exhaust later I don't have time right now. I also have a sound clip of my Invidia if I can find it.

the recommendation is to use a axle back or at most a cat back with headers. reason is you are going to LOOSE low/mid range torque for the slight gain in high end HP.

If you don't have the money right now for a decent setup (i would say comptech) I would wait.

I say keep it stock. The stock exhaust is specifically tuned for that engine. An aftermarket exhaust (especially a cheap one) will not last as long as the stock stainless exhaust will. That's my opinion. Take it like you want it. Honda's are best left stock. I will not even put an accessory on my car that is not made by Honda. That would be DOWNGRADING, NOT UPGRADING. Honda parts are the best parts. I know I sound like a Honda salesman, but that's what I think. Happy Hondaing

Your telling me a Honda stereo is the best stereo you can have in that car? If so I'm telling you you are full of ****.

There are quite a few parts you are correct on that Honda makes the best but there are also quite a few aftermarket parts that just work better.

If someone wants to build a fast Honda they are not going to use all stock parts. The parts they use may not be as reliable but it will add power like they want.

For an exhaust I think the majority of people doing it do it for looks or sound. I did it for those two and wanting power and really was dissapointed in the power department. The loud gets annoying also but it looks 100x better than stock.

My only complaint about the Invidia is that how the pipe goes so low under the axle then comes back up into the angled tip it looks like a straight pipe coming up with a slightly larger tip if your behind the car from far away. Doesnt' look bad though.

Some people don't like the angle it comes out either but I like it.

Here is a sound clip of my Invidia. http://www.we-todd-did-racing....DE%3D You may have to add .wmv to the end of it because for some reason we-todd-did-racing seems to delete the .wmv extension part.

You really don't get how loud it is though from that though just what it sounds like.
There it is on a Nissan that gives you a better idea of how loud it is.

Here are a few pictures of it on the Accord.

With Silencer

Without again

The nice thing about this exhaust other than the price is unlike a lot of exhauts the whole thing piping and all are stainless steel not just the muffler section.

If you purchase this I had a great experience going through Raceinspired.com I think thats the site if not try race-inspired.com anyway I know they are also a sponser on here and will sell it to you a little cheaper if you go through here. I didn't know that at the time and bought if off the site though.

Sorry man but that looks like ***...nothing says rice a licious like a fart can sticking out the back of your car.

For the V6 car BLKFLSH is correct. the exhaust is nearly perfect for the j30a......put some headers on it and there really is no reason to do anything else.

Ok, you got me on stereo. But in my own defense, the stereo has absolutely nothing to do with how the car itself operates.

And by the way, that exhaust looks like ****. What purpose does the giant "mack truck" muffler serve? And I can bet you that exhaust will not last as long as the stock exhaust would.

There is an idiot I work with who has gone through three different cat-backs on his car. And the original piping from the cat forward is still holding strong. Just wasting his money.

This exhaust is over a year old so far and other than scrapes from hitting the ground it has done fine. I went through 3 or 4 stock exhausts before this one. The main reason I got it was I was tired of the price of the stock exhauts and this whole exhaust system wasn't much more than just the stock muffler. I had a big ding in the pipe and was worried it was restricting the exhaust so replaced it.

I did not have good luck with stock exhausts lasting at all.

Your right though for the most part Honda parts are better. There are a few things they are not though.

What are you doing to the stock exhaust? All I had to change was the muffler on my 4th gen after 12 years , and 140,000 miles ($210), and it bolted right up.

I don't know the first time. The second time is I lived up on top of a gravel road for a year or so and thing that rocks hitting it may have worn it out quicker. The third time I don't know it just rusted through at the welds which I thought was odd due to the fact that it really was the only rusted thing on the car. I think I might have replaced it once more but I'm not really sure. I don't guess it's too bad though for having had the car 10 years now.

I do like the way this exhaust looks better though. Call me a ricer but I think it looks better than the stock one by far. I do like the quietness of the stock one though.

Each person has their own idea of what an exhaust should do. You think it should look good. I think the only important part is that it works with the engine (looks are not that important). In my opinion, the only exhaust that actually sounds good is bolted to a "big V8", and nothing else compares to that sound. different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I agree. I think this is one of the better souding import exhauts but imo they all sound like ****. I would probably go back to the stock exhaust if I had not spent all the money on this one just due to the fact that it's pretty loud. Sometimes I like it loud most of the time I do not.

Now my Flowmasters on my Ram are a differn't story. They arn't too loud but still loud and sound 150x better than any import I've ever heard.

I have an 2000 accord v6 coupe too, i go the topspeed dual exhaust piping, but if you dont want to spend too much, just get the mufflers [top speed] and weld it on at ne place. It sounds perfect, not too loud and not too soft. Just right.
