Fuel pump went out
umm I cant hear my fuel pump prime? is it dead? is the relay supposed to click even if the fuel pump is dead? what else could be the cause? it turns over. but no fuel... what do i check? fuses? ecu? wiring? The car just died on me as i was driving it. the engine just shut off. and before that it would idle funny. like when i would rev it and then let off the gas the rpms would drop really low..... lossing fuel pressure maybe? and the rpms would drop really low when i let off the clutch. i would have to rev the engine to 2000 rpm then i could fully release the clutch and it would drop to about 800 rpm after that then it would be ok. the engine is a rebuilt d15b p28 and uberdata. in a 89 Civic Dx
HELP!
HELP!
you sure it isnt spark. check that. i myself am having fuel issues but it sounds like you have either a vaccume leak or the timing needs to be fixed

here's how to do some quick check:
DO NOT SMOKE WHILE WORKING ON FUEL SYSTEMS
1. with the key in OFF postion, relieve fuel pressure by openning your gas tank's filler cap.
2. slowly loosen and remove the banjo bolt that goes to your fuel filter. try to put a rag or something to prevent the fuel from spitting.
3. take a plastic container, a clear one if possible so you can see if fuel is coming out of the hose while the hose is plunged into the container.
4. turn the key to ON position(engine NOT running). see if fuel comes out of the hose down to the container.
5. if there's no fuel coming out, put the key to OFF position and leave the hose plunged to the container.
6. while the key is in ON position, check if battery voltage is available at the fuel guage/pump electrical plug . you will find it under the rear seat, right at the middle.
7. if voltage is not present, check for the wire's continuity going to the main relay.
8. if wire's ok, check your main relay. have a copy of the service manual to make it easier for you.
9. to further check if your fuel pump is still in a working condition, jumper a wire right up to your battery terminals and apply voltage momentarily to the pump's electrical plug under the rear seat. see if fuel comes out of the hose w'c is placed in the container as you did earlier in step 3.
that wasn't quick huh

pull the relay out hook a Volt meeter up to 2 of the 4 pins i. the relay is laybeled with #'s there and usea a 9v battery to hear it click.
or pull another relay out from something like the fan or something. install it turn the key should hear a click. if you do pull the seats up and cheak to see if you have voltag at the pump plug then cheak for resistanc in the pump with the volt meter.
if all of the is working try cheaking you fule filter! if it is cloged up car will not run

My 91 civic lx had a similar problem this last winter, and it wasn't the fuel pump that I thought it was it actually was the distributor. I replaced it and it started up. There is also an access door under the back seat, if you didn't already know that.
I have a 91 Civic LX 4-door sedan, the problem is the seat belt buzzer keeps going off and never shuts off. The only way that I have found to stop the insane beeping is to leave the door ajar and lock it. PLEASE, someone help stop the insanity......thank-you.
man keith, i had 2 problems with mine, one turned out to be a blown fuse, when i would turn my key i wouldnt hear the fuel pump.. second time was an exposed wire of my kill switch was touching bare metal so it caused the fuse to short i dont know if that helps tho
