Stole this idea for a short throw shifter from someone on cb7tuner or whatevas...Well see I got the short throw shifter adapter and looked at it for about a good 30 mins and said what the expletive alot. Maybe cuz i am retarded.

So then I found an idea to take one of those copper pipe holder thingys....lol...and used that for a short throw shifter. Check the pics of my install goodness.

You can get this from any lowes or home deopt and if your a nice person you would pay about 10 bucks for this installment. Or if you have a retareded friend you get it for free.

Its on there pretty secure. I'm leaving my center console off for awhile just in case...But for someone thats broke as hell its good. I made sure i tested it before i drove. By slamming it around. I know I am a noob and what not. But I think its fairly good.

I've never worked with shortening the throws of the shifter, but from an engineering point of view I see some issues which are going to cause you trouble down the road.

1. The nuts you used on the clamp bolts do not have a locking feature. Over time and multiple shifts they will loosen up and cause you trouble. At minimum you would want some locking washers or a locking nut.

2. The big bolt that pushes against the shifter will loosen over time tool. Once again nothing to retain the bolt. At minimum put some loctite on. Even better would be a longer bolt with jam nuts on each side of the copper clamp.

3. Copper is soft. Look how the ends of the clamps have been pulled together. Instead of bending those flanges, some washers or spacers should have been placed in there. Since it is copper it probably won't crack from the preload, but you more then likely permanently deformed the clamp.

4. Since copper is soft, the clamp is going to wear fairly quickly with all those shifts. The attach holes will elongate and the big attach bolt bore will probably get sloppy too.

5. Where the forward bolt goes through the rod end, did you use a bushing? If not, it will be sloppy and introduce play into the system. Of course if you used a bushing the threads from the bolt will cut in the bushing and cause wear. Should be a smooth shank of a bolt inside a bushing.

I know you did this on the cheap, but my guess is that your mod will give you some headaches after some use. Let us know how long it lasts.

Don't people complain about how crappy adapters are anyways, at least compared to actual short shifters?

Anyway, I wouldn't trust this idea for very long.

well, @ least u learn not to skimp on important parts of a car... before u crash it...

sure, u can ghettofy an air intake, but i'll get decent parts when it comes to something like this.
