03 vs. 04 Pro's Cons
Hey everyone, once i sell my integra i will be looking to get a s2000.
I will either be looking at the 2003 (ap1) or 2004 (ap2) models.
Considering both are in great condition with about 20k miles and roughly the same price (ap2 being a little more) which would be the better buy?
What are the pro's and cons past the upgraded styling?
I like the look of the ap2 and the engine of the ap1 (not interesting in swapping fenders etc...)
Which engine is superior in your opinion? and reasons....
THANKS GUYS!!
hope to be in the s2000 forum family soon!

I'm a fan of the AP2. It's a stiffer body, more forgiving suspension (yet still with the same high limits), better rear diff (supposedly) and transmission, more torque, and better wheels and tires.

I t is really up to you man. I chose the AP1. AP2 has more torque, but honda is known for high revving, efficient motors. I like having the 9k redline. I like the AP2 front bumper, but can't stand the rear... The bottom line is you will win either way. It is all up to what you like.... Good Luck, and make sure to post up pics of her when you get her...

They did until just recently. They now sell the 2.2L models now.

There is a reason why they switched to the F22. Its because its a better motor. =-) How often will you use the extra 1k rpms? How often will the better gearing and 10% more power in the lower and midrange be used?

No doubt its all about preference...

I prefer the 04 model. Shorter internal gear ratio, reworked rear end geometry( makes the car behave ), more torque, The 9k redline on the old model doesn't matter on the track. The newer 2.2 and gears make it faster. ( more usable power )

All that tells me is that you cant control it, i've drove both on and off the track and handling is much better in the AP1, The AP2 is not faster they even out to be the same....
