sucked AEM bypass foam into throttle body.....
well i wasnt drivng but my friend was driving my car.....he gets on it and and shifts into second then he tries to shift again and it just keeps hitting the rev limiter, he pushes the clutch in and it still hits the rev limiter....so he acts fast and turns the car off and coasts into a turn lane..i feel sick to my stomache and so does he...i thought my engine was done for....so we are standing there in the dark and hes looking around using lights from the oncoming cars.......he takes off the AEM cai and puts his finger in the throttle body and feels something...he pulls it out and its the rubbery foam on the inside of the by-pass valve....well it was in the bypass valve....but glad to say no engine damage....it drove fine after that....and we listened for any engine knock and there wasnt any...and it didnt idle any different...so im happy but tomorrow im ordering a comptech ice box and throwing that piece off **** AEM in the garbage...good thing hes a mechanic
just thought id share what happend
i think it was the throttle body...its where the aem connects to the engine

Don't throw your AEM away, I'll buy it.
Where was the bypass installed at? Near the TB or more near the fluid resorvoir where the pipe goes down.

its installed about 3 inches above the bend...ill sell it to you if you want it...your going to need a new bypass valve
there was a recall on the bypass valve because of the foam getting sucked up, call aem and they should send you a plastic ring to keep the foam in place
yep, the first batch of bypass valves they made were defectiove and were recalled by the company because they all did the same thing that happened to you, i would give them a call and make them send me a new one

yeah i heard the same....and i asked the place i bought it from about it and they said mine wasnt one of the defective ones....if my engine would of gotten messed up because of it i would of taken one of them to court...or gone mafia style on thier asses
something similar happened to me i was at the track a while back. I launched hard on slicks with 75 shot and right as i was shifting to second it sounded like a gun it scared the poopoo out of me. Thecar reved up almost to redline before i shut off car. I slowly cruised to end of track and my bypass valve had exploded into like 3 pieces and some was stuck in the throttle body. I removed it and prob fixed, but then again i blew my motor about 2 hours later.
yeah im done with the aem stuff...im getting the comptech ice box to complete the comptech set up i have...i havent had any problems since the incident so im happy i didnt do any damage
