Default 06 SI... Viper 791 XV

So I'm taking delivery of an '06 SI w/ navi tomor.

I'm anticipating a very high risk of theft with these cars, I'm sure in the future their wheels, brakes, suspension, motor, transmission, navigation, basically everything will have significant aftermarket value so I want to make sure I protect my investment well.

My boss' best friend owns his own car audio / security shop so he says I'm getting a good deal but I dont know anything about car alarms so I just want to get some second opinions.

He said hell install a Viper 791 XV that it has dual-stage motion sensors, a battery backup, and a glass break sensor. It also has all the options I wanted like 2 way remote, auto start, etc. He said the cost of the alarm is around $500 and he hasnt gotten back to me on install cost yet.

What would a good deal on the alarm iteself + install be. Is this the right system to protect my car? Any tips, advice, whatever is greatly appreciated.

Btw, I'll be running my trusty autolock on top of the alarm at all times even though I heard theres a new tool out that breaks them pretty easy

791xv runs anywhere from ~$180 on eBay (no warranty) to $500 in the stores (full lifetime warranty if an authorized dealer installs it)... Most reputable shops will include install in the price of the alarm, so if they try to charge you much more, they're trying to take you for a ride.

Please be aware that you will need a DEI 556U or 556H to get around Honda's factory immobilizer system for the remote start. 556U will require the use of your programmed Valet key, 556 does not. The modules run ~$50. Some shops charge to put the module in. Mine charges $25.

Also, the 791 has a dual stage "shock" sensor, not a "motion" detector. You can add a radar "motion" sensor, but that'll set you back ~$100, plus install.

Battery backup and glass breakage are add ons to that alarm. If $500 includes all that, the immobilizer bypass, and the installation, then that's one hell of a deal.

I just had a Viper 5000 installed on my 2000 Si and love it! I also added a dual zone motion sensor and battery backup module...Total was $450.

Also, I don't think you'll need a glass break sensor if you have a dual zone motion sensor.
