Car is running like a BAG! *video*
http://media.putfile.com/hosting25baridle
Heres a vid of my car idling right now as it stands. Its a freshly built d16a6, vitara pistons on eagles and a built head (milled.040). Im running turboedit and to run high boost I swapped in a 2.5bar map sensor from xenocron. Im running a 3" open downpipe thats why the exhaust soudns rather loud
Now I have no idea where to start when it comes to tuning, just trying to figure this out but I cant get the car to idle, cant figure out how to make a basemap with a 2.5map sensor so I grabbed a splitime bin from xeno's site and this is what its running in the vid, maybe because its for a z6 and im running an a6?
I need to know how to get this thing running right, I dont think there is a single vac line I havent checked for leaks, map sensor is wired right, I just dunno whats up
Hopeing for some advise

Try this bin and see if your idle improves. Also be careful if this works better at idle, then try it under boost. This is a basemap only and you should watch your wideband very carefully!

Whats ng55? I'll try it in one sec
i never knew what the heck the difference between ng60 and ng55 was or what they meant or what had to be changed or anything about them
BRB gonna try it out

The car just starts up and dies, jumps to 1100rpm and then cuts out, no a/f reading
Im gonna throw back in the 3bar for a minute and try that bin again
Somethings gotta ******* work on this car

Are you sure you have a 2.5bar map sensor? Maybe put a stock map sensor in and just linit your boost to 10psi until you can figure out if there are any other problems with the engine, vacuum or otherwise.
If you are sure it's a 2.5 bar then you might wanna add some fuel to the idle are cells to richen it up.
* RE-DOWNLOAD THE BIN FROM PREVIOUS POST *
Try again now with more fuel.

naw expletive it man, I installed my 3 bar and went to the bin me and the tuner got started on, ofcourse we did boost first cause it rips like crazy, did a bit of part throttle
I bought it from xenocron so Im pretty sure its a 2.5 sensor
So ive not got the 3 bar installed but it doesnt idle mint, a bit better than the 2.5bar, a/f in the low low 13's and the vacuum jump, probably cause of the mis matched air fuels
Can you modify this map to do anything for me? You seem to be fairly educated on the subject, can I email you the bin?

I can look at it email it to jeremydde@hotmail.com
Poor idle characteristics are common to incorrect ignition maps. Also you said you decked the head so that would mean you would have to advance your cam gear to maintain factory timing specifications as well. (.012 = 1 deg retard, 0.040 = ~ 3 deg retard)
I would adjust your cam gear accordingly, then try the basemap you and the tuner were working on already to see if the idle levels out. Make sure you run it long enough so that the engine is completely warm as well before you assume that your idle map is incorrect. Sometimes the intake air temp IAT or engine coolant temp ECT sensor can throw the idle out of wack and in some cases turboedit, chrome, uberdata can have poor cold start characteristics but run well when warmed up.
I will look at your basemap and check the ignition maps, but it is difficult since the car isn't in front of me, however I'll do my best.

ummmm
You mean advance right? The timing is advanced 3 degrees at the cam gear
Gonna send the bin right now, if you could send me as many bins as youd like Id appreciate it, willing to pay if you can spend some spare time with me to get this thing running right

ps- nice car, weve basically go the same car, same look wheels, same spoiler and body kit, both canadian
You west coasters must be smarter thought cause this tuning shnip is right over my head

have you put your setup to stock? stock ecu.... stock map sensor? and run liek that? DO NOT BOOST. but see if it idles? oh wait 440cc's.... put in the stock injectors too? if your not idling right with completely stock fuel setup.... then you can work from there. and someone (i dont mind doin it) can make you a 3bar + 440cc base map(i woudl tell you HOW not just make it)
The car idled fine on a 450cc stock map sensor basemap xenocron made for me so I know it is capable of idling like a champ
its definetely something in the tune and the map sensor

Try my modified bin now to see if your idle has improved.

I cant check it right now (1am here) but I'll burn it on a chip and check it out right after work tomorrow
What did you change?
As many maps as youve got I will try any and all combinations you come up with
Thanks again man, I really really really appreciate it

My front bumper is completely custom, one of a kind however. Thanks for the compliments! Not smarter, just done more tuning so have more practice.
I have a bunch of turbo maps for 450cc with various map sensors, but they are all obd1. Only my younger brother is running turboedit in his wagon d16a6 with ihi rhb5; prelude 345cc injectors; stock internals.
On your map I changed the idle area timing maps extensively as they were retarded from stock by as much as 5 degrees. Since the maps don't overlap, ie stock a6 map sensor has a -21 -18 -16 values along the x axis whereas the 3bar scale has -21 -19 -17 -15 -14 you have to interpolate between the values to average the timing values out properly.

Holy crap man, exact same wheel, sidemarkers, skirts (minus front) and even the same hood!!
Thanks again for the help, I'll let you know if it works or not
If it doesnt work what should I look for and play around with incase your not online? I can just open this in te and play around with it right?
Thanks again man

Yup just open it up in turboedit and play around. You shouldn't have to fool around much with timing out of boost as they should be pretty close. Only with a dyno can you tune it better, there, although fuel could need some work. Try to watch where the vacuum is whe the car is at idle, or hunting. If it's idling at -19 mm hg then that's were you have to edit the cells in turboedit if it was lean for instance.

Someone told me the column header would be different because Im using a 3 bar
Like if I was getting lean at -18 vacuum I would really have to go to the -27 column in TE cause thats where the 3 bar is picking up its numbers
Is that not true?

That shouldn't be the case, I have never witnessed that behaviour on anyone elses car before, I have datalogging though so I know where the idle cells are and can adjust accordingly that way. If you are changing the -27 area and getting an improvement in the -18 area it could be the software hasn't adjusted/scaled to the proper voltage for your map sensor and is throwing the ecu off. Coincidentally your timing maps were off from -27 all the way up to -15.

The map you sent over didnt work very well, car ran extremely lean and the idle still kinda bounced. I have NO idea how I made this bin but the car runs PERFECT
Well kinda perfect anyways, holds the idle pretty much rock ******* solid with no vacuum jumps, has a small probably 50-70 rpm surge every 10 seconds or so that you can hear in the exhaust but it seems mint to me.
Idles at around 13.8:1
Dont know if I can lean it up and still make it run so nice though

If you tweaked the fuel in the map i sent it might get better. Although if you have already made a bin that seems to work pretty good then congrats!
