Default Need exhaust help

I have a 3inch catback for my '97 teg. I'm going to add a 3inch flex pipe to it. Well i'm going to be hooking it up to the stock manifold. I beleive the collector is 2.25inch (not too sure). What else would i need to do this? some step down connectors, and a flange? What size flange and where should i but them from? Sorry, im a newb to exhaust. TIA

Great site. Thanks alot!

but i just started thinking....if i have a 3in flex pipe and have it go down to 2.25 it would probably be hard to get bolts in there....should i go with a 2.5in flex pipe?

Well I have advice, but I'm not sure where you're putting it exactly. If its NA, a 2.5" won't be an issue (usually a bit under the rated size between the mesh walls). If it was me and a perminant fix, I'd go with 2.25" or whatever fits, then have the end flare to fit the 3".

What I was thinking about doing for my exuast to swap to stock easily: take the 3" exhaust I made [3" flange is 4" behind the oem cat's rear flange], make a 3bolt cat to 3bolt 3" adapter, then slap the adapter on the stock mani/collector/cat to bolt right up. Doing this on yours will make it not fit on other cars w/o modding. I project mine to rust out in 2 years, so I dont care about mine.
