Default sprockets and commuting

Hey guys I need to get a new chain for my bike so I am going to do sprockets as well. I want sprockets for more acceleration not to power up wheelies or anything. At the end of summer I plan on commuting to school and back with my bike. Are there any sprocket size combos that would give me a noticable acceleration improvement but not kill cruising rpms, I will be at 75-80 for cruising speeds. Or would I be better off getting a bigger rear sprocket and new stock size sprocket and just switching sprockets at the end of the year.

And stay away from aluminum for the street. Unless you don't care about how long you want it to last.
