crank pulley removal
how do i get this thing off? im trying to change the timing belt on my hf motor and i cant remove the bolt to take off the crankshaft pulley. using a breaker bar with all my might and it wont budge. so is there a special technique or do i need an impact wrench or something, or am i just a weakling? oh yeah the tanny fill and drain bolts are being the same way. thanks
I had to do the same thing, I tried stress bars and all and I couldnt get it to budge. I actually read up somewhere that it is tourqued to factory @ 600 lbs. I ended up towing it to a goodyear and having them use a 3/4" impact ratchet and paying 30 bucks
I actually had tried manythings, I found that a huge pipe wrench with a large pipe on the end works. I just got the wrench stuck on the pulley, and then put the pipe on the end and put it so it wouldnt move. Then using a breaker bar and alot of muscle I just pulled it to break it free. Or use a strap wrench and 2 people that works too its like $20 from autozone.

and then soak the bolt wid PB blaster overnight.. sorry folks if you live like i do in the salty road during winter... you will most likely have a ceased bolt... then use a breaker bar and a pipe for extra torque.... if that dont work... use your legs to push away... works for me...

i installed a gas pipe reducer into the pulley, used vise grips to tighten the pipe wrench, 1/2" drive with 20" extension, slipped a 3" foot piece of 1" gas pipe over the braker bar and jumped on it. pulley didn't move and the bolt was easily loosened.
