Default Help me chosing another Turbo (searched) for Build B18C from Europe

Hey Guys,

I have been reading on HT for more than 5 Years now. And yes now i have my own boosted Civic. By the way im Living in Europe (Austria)

I have a 1995 EG5

B18C Sleeved Block

Wiseco 9:1 Pistons

Eagle Rods

ITR Cams

RC550 Injectors (i know i will upgrade to 750CC soon)

Ported and Polised Head

Crower Springs and Retainers

ITR Intake manifold

Inline Pro Stainles Steel Header

Garrett T3/T04e

TIAL Wastegate 38mm

3 inch Exhaust from Turbo all the way to the end

ITR Transmission With LSD

Boosting for now 9 psi (soon be 20psi) on Crome wasnt at Dyno Yet but it pulls very hard to red line. Raced a BMW M3 3.2 Liter 321 HP all the BMW saw was my tail lights

To make a long story short i do have a big turbo lag and im thinking of getting a GT turbo charger.

i searchd but didnt find anything about the GT30R and the GT35R Ball bearing turbo chargers.
I dont know which one to get my gool is 400whp (here in austria you get 100 octane gas at any gas station hehehe ) and i dont want to have so much lag.

This winter i will also upgrade to a Ram horn turbo header that should also help me getting rid of so much of lag.
right now im hitting at 5000RPM Full boost

so guys what do you thing which one should i pick for my car a GT30R or a GT35R

Thanks for any input

By the way the car was tuned on the street of a friend of mine from slovenien with Crome, EGT Wide band O2 and a Knock Senser device
many thanks to him

I say go with at least the 35R it is over kill and will be easy for you to make 400. But I fear if you go with the smaller turbo that you are going to end up selling it n order to make more power as that 400hp is going to feel slow

A GT30R will support 550WHP, why in the name of god does everyone want to go so absolutely huge on turbos?

I'm running a GT30R on my GSR motor and I love it. A little over 400 WHP on pump gas and I beat on my car every single day. ****, even the turbo you have on the car now will break 400 WHP without any trouble at all.

Actually a GT35R really isn't that big of a turbo. It is on the smaller side. I'm not sure why you consider it so big but I use it and enjoy it on the street. I was just merely stating that if he decided that he wanted to move into a competive status then the GT35R puts him a lot closer than the 30R. Either way for his power goals either one will work. If the car is only going to be a street car then get the smaller of the 2. Less spool time.

Explain how a turbo capable of 650whp is on the small side?

Your search for GT30R returned 91 results

Make sure you are searching not just "Recent content" but "Archived content"

But, because the 30R is one of my favorite turbos... here are some charts.

dontblink: 94 octane @ 17psi

jdmvtec28: 14-15psi with pump gas

If your goal is 400whp though, you might try the GT2871. It's rated @ 400hp but is capable of a bit more. It should be the fastest spooling turbo to get you there.

boosted hybrid has a great example of a GT2871 setup. The rest of the info can be found here

24psi & race gas
