stuck in gear, bet you can't figure out -searched-

Well I'm sitting with my friend at a car dealership. We were leaving after looking at cars and he put the car in reverse. Started backing out, it made a popping noise, and the car died.

Now when you press the clutch it sticks to the floor. Can't disengage the clutch and it's stuck in gear. Cable tranny/clutch of course. Any ideas?

sounds to me like your clutch cable just snapped... the plastic parts that connect to the transmission get brittle and snap real easily after 15 plus years of use... its an easy fix... good luck
