Calling my R-speed Peeps.
I will be up in the tri-state area soon and want to make some changes on my ITR.
Rather than pay some turkey to do it (I have no tools whatsoever at my parents' place and wouldn't know what to do with them anyway), I was thinking of buying a copious amount of beer/cigs/etc for any of my R-speed brethren willing to lend a hand and a flat surface.
It's always a good time to hang out with you guys, so I figure I might as well kill a few birds with one stone. I'll be up there sometime within the next two weeks, but the exact dates can be worked around people's availability.
Anyone interested, just pipe in here or send a PM. When the discussion turns to locations and date/time we will take it to the phone.

I know Opie is good at drinking and smoking... i think he lacks a flat surface though
On a serious note though, contact DanGSR....he is a great wrench turner

It's not a huge job. I just want to pull the go-fast goodies off, replace them with stockers. Car also needs an oil change - I may do that before I leave DC, though.
I could possibly help while your down this way. Replacing bolt-ons with stock stuff is easy. It can even be done in a parking lot somewhere..

The only issue is that I need to get it done at home where the car is registered (CT). My registration has expiring, and I have to get an emissions test done to renew it. However...I don't think it will pass in current form. So I am going to take the bling stuff off, replace it with the stock stuff in my parents' basement, get my emissions test done, renew my reg, drive back down to DC.
Complicated...but necessary. Now I have to finalize exactly when I will be there. I sincerely appreciate the willingness of all to help.

I'll be removing the bling parts - JDM 4-1, T1R B-pipe, Carsound Cat, and Spoon N1 rear section. Then my car will be all stock except for the brake pads.
It will all go up for sale, excluding the header which I might keep.

Let me know if you need any local help
.
Also, just a heads up. I'm not sure about ct but here in md mine passed inspection with jdm 4-1, smsp carsound cat, and t1r full exhaust. Would hate for it all to come off if there was a chance you could pass.
Again im free on the weekends if you need any help around here

Wow, the offers keep pouring in. Not bad for a guy who hasn't been on track in about 2 years.
Thanks J - even if I could pass, I'd still sell the stuff. It just attracts too much attention, and I really could use the money. I am also very concerned about my hearing and that of my dog.
Eventually, if I keep the car, I'll go to Dave @ SMS and pick up a really nice, unassuming exhaust that won't set off car alarms and wake up my neighbors.
Right now I need my machines to get me from Point A to Point B, nothing else. I've blown a lot of money over the years on cars and bikes and it's time to get it under control.

Thanks man. Those silly yankee states are probably just a little more environmentally stringent than you Virginia folk.

I dont know about up north but VA changed there emission testing. For OBDII cars all they do is hook the computer up to the machine and check for recent emission codes. They no longer put it on the rollers and do the sniff test.
And my car passed both tests, sniff and computer.
