eg hatches prewired for vtec?
hey guys sorry for a noob question, but im about to get a d16z6 for my eg hatch.. currently theres a d15b8 lying in there right now. this will be my first swap and ive been reading around on it.. but just curious will i need an ex/si engine harness or will the one i have work (is it prewired for vtec)? thanks.
"What year is the car???" ~If he is referring to it as an eg then I would have to guess 92-95.
As far as your hatch, it isnt prewired for Vtec. You could try to find an Si/Ex Harness, or you could do wut I did and run two wires from the Vtec solenoid through the firewall to the ECU.

all 92s and some early 93s are wired for VTEC from the shock towers to the ECU. But if the engine is not VTEC then the engine harness does not have it.
The CX does not have the VTEC wiring in the engine harness. Nor does it have wiring for the four wire O2 sensor that the Z6's ECU (P28) requires.

Obviously it is 92-95, i was asking to see if it was a 92 or a special 93 cuz they are factory wired for Vtec, where you could just use an Si/EX wiring harness to have vtec, but since it is a 94, using that harness won't do any good because you still have to wire it into the ECU.
