idea... crx rhino liner?
alright well im sure im going to get some pretty bad bashing comments.
but anyway, i have a 91 crx and the previous owner completely gutted the interior and i am trying to consider my options to make it look better. of course easiest would be just paint it, but thats kinda blah i dont like the look it looks to rough and ugly, i could buy all the peices but even that can get pricy, or something totally custom.
so i was watching tv and a rhino liner commercial came on, and they do it to suv's now. so i was thinking "hey why not to a car" you can get them in basically any colour, and it would look pretty smooth compared to just gutted. so i just want to hear your opinions. and does anyone know the aproximate price they charge and the general weight? it could even work double as a sound dampner, for me being someone who plans on getting a quality sound system.

Rhino liner is thick it almost looks like the texture on a wall so im not to sure that you should expect it to come out shiny, you would be better off painting it all, if you had it done the right way (compressor, gravity feed gun, and even the cheapest auto sealer, paint and clear -Omni- not only will you fix it you may be able to make your car look better then it did stock if you do it the right way?
i agree that it will probably add a lot of weight. so consider that down the track.
buy just by chance i happen to have a full interrior, in pretty good shape, from an 88crx hf. it will fit no problem in your car. how much do you need? i literally have nothing left in my car, so i will sell ya anything for a really good price. pm me if you want

It's probably less than that as the weight of that material when you weighed it is the "wet" weight. Kinda like a wet sponge weighs more than a dry one.
Either way, 7 pounds is negligible on the track, if it was that big of a deal you could go on a diet.

I did the rhinoliner about a year back on my 90 hatch. The stuff is really hard to work with but ends up looking pretty good if you take your time with it. Just dont get stuff with a gloss finish...that stuff looks like poo. As for the weight, it doesnt weigh all that much as people might expect. I say go for it.
One more thing...clean everything thoroughly and prep the hell out of the surface first. Trust me on this...you'll thank me later.

i did this a while back, but i used the stuff in the can. it came out very good in my opinion and is very durable. it looked real good but my interior is back in so i dont really see it anymore. there was also a noticable drop in road noise also.
i think im going to look further into this idea, does anyone know how this will affect screw holes or anything along those lines, if i were to put this in is it possible to put the rear peices back in at a later date or will it mess things up?
Yeah, sounds like a great way to make the car HEAVY... It would be convenient though, just hosing out the interior whenever it got dirty..
I'd only consider this if you were trying to kill sound like in an SPL car...

i have done the same thing gut the interior, but thats not a bad idea, rhino lining.. i was thinking covering everything w/ carpet, but you could get rhino lining to serve more of a purpose than carpet would try it and let me know
im more and more convinced about this stuff if you were to just spray all the metal in the car after it was gutted for sound purposes i would say do it, but if you are going to spray all your interior like your dash, concole, door panels etc. that would be a thumbs down
