Default body work estimate

Heres the deal. I just picked up this rex for $600, slapped a jdm front end on it and want to send it to the body shop to take out the dents and paint it. My question is this door repairable? It does not affect the door opening or closing whatsoever.

Yeah it is, but it be cheaper and more easy for you or the shop to put another door on it thats the same year as that vehicle. Just make sure it's the exact same year, cause the 88/89 are differen't from the 90/91 even though it's the same car, but thats what i would do if i was gonna paint it anyways.

Yeah, get a new door, a reskin would only work it the skeleton is not bent. You can get a door for $75 or less at junkyards! Goodluck and post your progression pics

You can find one if you are patient. A bad shop will straighten the frame with a hammer, and 'fill' that hole cause door skins are a pain in the ***.

Get a new door from a parts car, junk car or 'borrow' one from a friend haha.

Well, I guess that's what I'm going to do. Gots to be patient. Oh, and since you guys seem to know a bit bout body work what would the going rate be for a shop to take out all the dents, align the bumpers and fenders, and paint this rex? I'm not looking for show car quality but better than decent. I want door jams painted etc but not interior. There are dings here and there. Heres a few pics and a little proggression strip for those who care too. THanks ahead for the comments.

to this . .

and finally to this . .

and taking my old motor out of elizabeth and into my new unnamed rex . .

there s places like certifit.com who might have a door, i know they have hoods, fender and it reasonable

plus body shops now days don't fix dents its cheap to buy a skin or just cut and weld in a new pannel. plus would u rather have a new piece or something filled with bondo and charge you twice as much for more labor.

ok first off the door would have to be replaced..either by a skin or by a new door. yes it would be cheaper to find a new door because skins are a bitch to put on.

2nd thing is most bodyshops will not even touch little projects like this one..they mostly stick with insurance jobs.

3rd thing is that if a bodyshop was to price you the job it would prob. be alot..i cannot tell to much from the pictures to give you a straight price but your looking at more than what the car is worth (to you) to replace door skin, paint the door jams, beat out all other dents, fiberglass or bondo, sand the whole car down, and line your bumpers up which could need frame straightening, idk...

the reason i say all this is because bodyshop usually charge by the hour, they have a little book that tells how much time each and every little thing takes and they just add everything up and give you a total..my guess would be around 1500-3000 dollars all depending on if there is frame damage and what kind of bodyman you get ahold of...

but all this is just my 2 cents...i used to work at acouple different bodyshops so i usually know around the price to repair.

As for the car, there is no frame damage that I know of or see. There are only little dents and dings here and there. I just left the body parts on somewhat loose so that they can be played with. As for the door I have already started to look for one, to me that 's no biggie. I just now want to know what an estimate would be, I am willing to pay $2000 for my paint and body work. I would like to go somewhere like mob works but after searching about them it seems that I will be looking at around $4-5 thousand and that's just outrageous for a car I will drive on the weekends and occasionally to work and back. Thanks for the information harmonator84.

Oh and if you are interested I have some practically brand new door panels for 88-89 crx doors if your interested. Shoot a price at me but remember I am located in California.
