What is a engine overhaul, what parts does it involve, and how much does it usually cost?

 

replace all gaskets: $500

replace rings and bearings: $600

labor: 400-1600

 

what kinda rings and bearings do u buy that cost 600bucks?? holy moly

 

yea, i was thinking everything i would need would cost at 400 or so if i got hella good deals

Machine Work: It depends what needs to done.

Check out head too.. Replace valve seals, they are cheap.

Water pump, oil pump, rear main seal...

Doesn't cost much.

Are you doing a stock rebuild? I know one member did a stock spec rebuild w/new pistons, oil/water pumps and it came out to ~$3400. My rebuild cost quite a bit more w/some after market parts. If you have the knowledge to do everything yourself you will save yourself a big chunk of change. Otherwise be sure to have enough money to complete everything, you don't want your car sitting idle while waiting for funds! Good luck!

 

its really depends if your gonna just rebuild the engine OEM or if you want to build it for performance...you probly spen $800-$100 if you do everything yourself. on all brand new OEM parts..pistons, gaskets, honing if needed, oil pump, water pump, etc etc
