spedo, vss, cluster?

Default spedo, vss, cluster?

my gauges in my civic didnt work, welll the gas and the spedo would work sometimes but if it didnt work it would sit at 0 and the odometer wouldnt work. i swaped in a new cluseter and like its really weird the gas gauge works and the odometer but the needle on the spedo is below the bar it sits on or w/e and i trun it on it goes up close tot he bar but when i drive it goes in reverse like goes from the blan area to like 100 miles per hour. what you guys think is wrong?

the second cluster - it sounds like the needles have been removed and reinstalled incorrectly.
It should rest on the peg when off and at at stop.

im not sure if my sensor is okay, but would the needle being removed and reinstalled make it go in reverse

hmmm, I'm not sure how I missed that part.

since the VSS puts out a simple signal to the cluster that indicates movement. It doesn't care if you're going backwards or forwards. I have no idea how the speedo would move backwards.
If the cluster is good the needle would still try to rotate the correct way.

here's how to test the VSS.
jack up one side of the car.
connect the red lead of a volt meter to the center wire of the VSS with everything connected. (ground the black wire of the meter)
turn the ignition to run (car not running)
slowly turn the tire that's off the ground.
the voltage will jump back and forth from ground to either 5V or 12V. (I don't remember which)

i really have no clue whats goin on
i wouldnt care if someone didnt steal my radar detector
im just glad my gas gauge works now cuz that didnt
