Removing sludge from engine?
My engine recently blew a headgasket and water was mix with oil. I tried draining the oil but only some of the sludge came out. So my question is how can i remove the sludge from my engine?
i work at jiffy lube and the best way to clean a motor out is to use about half a quart of ATF. this works the best becuase it is a detergent.keep it in for about a day no more than two. then drain it with the rest of the oil. dont quote my on the 1/2 quart part because most of my coworkers cars take 5-7 quarts and they use about 1 quart so with hondas should be fine with about 1/2

That's what I'd do. It might take two oil flushes to get all the stuff out depending on how bad it was.

Check at your local auto parts store, i forget the name of it but there's a good flush in a silver can, different sizes for 4 6 and 8 cyls, it's a 5 min flush. dump it in the crankcase, idle the car for 5 mins then dump the oil. new oil, new filter, and you're good to go. just did it on mine yesterday and this was after the car was submerged in a pond, got all the nice chocolate milk colored sludge out and some of the really dark sludge as well. oil looks nice and clear now.
...and you should change the oil in another 100 miles, then again at 1000 to make sure you've gotten all the sludge out.

put it together... pour like 2 quarts in it.. drain it..( do not start it yet )... fill it back up to the engine capacaty its like 3 1/4 or somethin like that... start it up let it run for a minute or 2.. drain the oil.. replace it and it should be okay..
DO NOT.. get the silver can the other guy is talking about.. its called engine restore it doesnt work.. maybe coincidence but i put that crap in my car and 3 days later i spun a bearing..
