Default Help w/ notchy gearbox and shuddering

First off, my setup is a b18c1 w/ unknown act clutch, stock tranny w/ exception of oem jdm itr lsd.

Just recently, like night and day, my gearbox got really notchy. There was no gradual notchiness or signs (except maybe a slight grind sometimes from 2-3 gears). I just got back from a track event last weekend too, everything has been fine up until now.

I just installed a JDM itr LSD into my tranny about 2 months ago. Everything was fine up until now. All of the sudden i can't shift with one smooth motion no matter how slow i shift. It's like a hit a gate, then i have to wait a second or two until i can finish the shift to the next gear--and it doesn't matter how hard i push or pull into a gear, it just gets stopped until it seems my tranny "accepts" the change into the next gear. This happens 1st -5th gears. It happens about 90% of the time when i'm driving as well. About 10% of the time my tranny acts normal--smooth shifts, like nothing is wrong.

The other problem that starting happening w/ above mentioned problems is what i can only best describe as my car "shuddering" when i want to take off in first or reverse. It's like when someone doesn't know how to drive manual and they don't give it enough gas--that kind of shaking/shuddering.

Now i searched and i did the easy stuff--i bled my clutch, i changed my tranny fluid from honda mtf fluid to redline mtf fluid.

It makes me think it is either 1) the clutch, 2) the throwout bearing or 3) some internal problem in the tranny relating to my LSD install (ie maybe a loose bolt on the changeholder).

The clutch seemed fine when i drove it for the past 2 months, and at my recent track day..... and does it make sense that my car would act like this if my clutch were bad? i have no idea. can anybody offer any suggestions?

veerrrrrrrrrrry likly its the clutch. the shuddering is called clutch chatter.

and if the clutch isnt disengauging fully, it puts extra stress on the syncro collar. its not healthy at all to continue with this happning. you might have to pull the transmission and check the clutch fork, the pivot ball, and the TO bearing.

thats what it sounds like to me.

Check your tans. mount out as well. should be like below and behind the battery. Just another thing to add. Good luck. My car kinda does that when its real cold and damp out side. But my ***** over the hill, 200kmi but the sunroof works and doesn't leak, and I get 28-30 mpg. Try everything you can before you take it somewhere, Good luck.

I agree with skriblah. Check your clutch first. I had the same problem with a Exedy clutch not letting me hit the gears without scrathing, and then would be real hard to release the gear (like a gate). Good luck.BTW hoe old/used is the ACT clutch?

I'm not sure how old it is, it came w/ my motor swap....

and bad news....well i just replaced my CMC, and it didn't fix it. I guess its my clutch.....

Can anyone suggest a good clutch for me? I have no idea where to start, for example ACT has so many different types. I don't mind stiff, i drive the car about half of the week and i take it road racing a few times a year.
