03 CTR - need help with upgrades - what to do next?
Ive got a 03 Euro Honda Civic Type-R (K20A2 engine with a slightly higher compression than the one in the rsx type-s). At the moment i have gotten these parts:
- Spoon Sport Progressive springs (1" lower)
- Toda Racing Exhaust Manifold (i love this thing)
- Fujitsubo RM-01A (great sound, great build quality, light)
- JDM 22mm front sway bar (replaces the 18mm and makes room for the toda)
- Tanabe front tower bar
- Energy suspension mount inserts (reduce wheelhop/protect header)
- Mugen air intake (carbon fiber box and filter)
- Mugen frontlip and frontgrille
Im currently ordering this:
- USDM RSX-S ECU with K-Pro (getting everything tuned when finished)
- Denso wideband lambda/o2 sensor (the euro cars only have narrowband)
- Volk Racing CE28 or LE28 in either titanium gunmetal/mercury silver or gold/polished lip combo (bling, plus they are lighter than my type-r wheels)
- JDM 22mm rear swaybar (replaces the oem 18mm)
So this is how far ive gotten at the moment, some might say i should have gotten a coiloverkit but im saving up for a complete tein flex system with management so until next year i think ill pass on that. Plan to get to know my suspension a bit better after taking it to a trackday also before doing any more.
These are possible upgrades wich im uncertain about:
- Steel brake wires (where to get, what to get, what quality/price?)
- Spark plugs (is this worth upgrading from the OEM ones? And if so, wich ones should i get?)
- Steel clutch wire (some say this is a inexpensive and great upgrade, any comments?)
- Aluminium/polyurethane bushing for the gearshift (Supposedly this gives a tighter feel. Has anyone done this? Wery inexpensive mod anyway)
- DC5R brembos (they look great, no argument there, but is it worth it? does it give anything qualitywise or is it just jdm bling)
Im open for any other suggestion also, but turbo/supercharger is out of the question at the moment (norwegian laws/horesepower fees scare the **** out of me, 350USD per HP over 200). Boltons and such look invisible, but even a moron cop will see a big turbo or a supercharger. Also im not going to open up the engine/transmission for a year since i have guarantee from honda atm. But when the time comes, JDM type-r cams and LSD (quaife/oem) plus a lightened flywheel (jdm oem or toda) will be fitted, or so is the plan anyways.
Hoping to get some constructive criticisme on this, if you think theres something better out there than what ive been planning to order feel free to say so. Suggestions, brands, types, fire at will
