NSX airbox w/ ABS
Aight so I finally got a NSX airbox. Now I dont have an ITR. but I figure you guys might be interested. This was inspired by the Real Time Racing ITR.

Here is mine.

It came with a K&N airfilter for the box. but I didnt like the flat filter design.
I modified my stock airfilter elbow and it fits thru the stock hole. For some reason the previous owner drilled a 3 inch hole in the side of the box. so I had to plug that up.
I cut the bracket supports off the airbox cause the box is so huge.
Next I planned to relocate my coolant tank. Im not too satisfied with its placement. Im thinking of moving back to where the battery is. there is a nice area to put it in. jsut need to plan out where to mount the bracket.
I also had to shorten my radiator hose cause it got in the way of the box.

oh yeah the the most important thing. Im using a customized stock filter elbow with an AEM filter.
I used this with my stock airbox and a DIY icebox snorkel.
The current setup seems to made my car a beast. I notice a huge improvement in torque and top end power.
But then It could be just my imagination. but I dont remember my GSR being this beastly. its cool haha.

hmmm, nice stuff here, i think it's worth trying out for sure.

Well due to the NSX box design there inst much for the intake arm to attach onto. (might be due to the original owner cutting the outlet a bit short. Our intake arms attach to the filter and the box closes around the filter.
Also the NSX filter is like the EK civics. It is a large flat element. not cylindrical like ours. So i used my AEM CAI filter from my old civic.

So you're basical using a Cone Filter with a NSX Box right ?
Have you tried using a Flat Element on that Huge Box ?
Are you planning to do a dyno comparision ?

haha yeah My filter is bent a little bit cause i shoved it in the stock airbox.
But I tried this cause of the arguement about pressurization. supposedly the larger airbox creates more pressure there by more air.

The OP stated that he read up on this conversion from information on the Real Time Racing Type-R's. I think it's relative, but this is just my stupid opinion.
OP: Your thread is completely pointless without dyno plots and comparisons.
There seems to be a few places where air is possibly escaping. It just doesn't look air tight enough. Have you thought about using a generic short ram intake arm for this? Since you read up in the RTR conversion, did you see pictures of the actual RTR cars?
There is a thread floating around the Type-R section on intake systems and which perform better. As it stands the Mugen intake is the ticket, but like always, it would be interesting to see a factual comparison.
It would also be nice to know how much you paid for everything. If this system performs well, it would be benificial to those who cannot afford the Mugen intake and want to try something different.

last i checked if it fit a gsr it would fit an itr.

My curiosity got the best of me. I just emailed Real Time Racing a formal letter requesting information on this simple conversion. Since the Type-R has been decomissioned, I'm hoping it's not an industry secret and they can thus, share some information on it.

yes valid points. and I tried to note that the power difference may be my imagination. So all of my rantings and ravings could be biased. I did acknowledge that it does need to be dynoed.
However you mention that there are possible airleaks and I assure you there are not.
The collar of the stock filter elbow is a sure and snug fit. I am looking into getting another stock NSX box that has not been mutilated.
I also took a closer look at the RTR Integra. they used the adjsutable collar from the NSX. it is an accordian style tube and that is what they used to connect box to the intake arm. I will need to get that and try that out.
It may not look pretty but it seems to do the trick. again I know I need to dyno it for real proof. This post was merely to show you guys, who might have thought about doing this but were concerned about the myth of removing the ABS, now can go ahead and try this knowing that if it fits in my car it will definately fir in your car.
