Will the clearance be ok? and question about bearings
I just wanna know if the CT-R pistons have any affect hitting the valves on a B16 head?
And do OEM Main and Rod bearings come in different sizes? im gonna have to bore my block .25mm to accomidate the PCT's but does the bearing size stay the same?
i was looking at buying some bearings from this site and they were selling the STD sizes, .10 .20 and I think even .30 When does the bearing size change and with my piston setup will it change?

Piston choice does not determine bearing size. Rod big end bore and crankshaft journal size are determing factors for bearing selection.
like b19coupe said..pistons size does not determine rod & main bearing size.. and about the pistons hitting your head..after market pistons companys usually think about that and give clearance for that. It depends on what kind of cams you will be using..the higher the lift of cam the more your valves will press out and could possibly hit your valves. also depends if you head was or going to mill or how many times your block/head been resurfaced.....
I have JE pistons...I talked to JE and they said they make a lot of space for pistons to valve clearance when they make thier pistons..said I could run spec Cs if I wanted to on 11.5 compression pistons...

and the place you seen with std, 10 , 20 etc over bearings are like ACL's os something similar. i made the mistake using acls, the 1 size fits all just didn't cut it, 1000 miles later, spun a rod bearing.
honda uses a block lettter, and a crank number to arrive at the correct bearing size. same with rods...eagles use a honda #3 size.
i replaced the acl's (and the killed crank) with a 98 gsr crank(used) and new honda bearings according to colors/numbers my crank/block said to use.
been turning 9800 for over a year now and seeing the track every week

not jacking this thread but along the same lines...im in the process of rebuilding my bottom end....so tonight im out in the garage and i put in the acl bearings and platiguage them....rods are perfect like brand new.027mm....(h22a4 this is) the mains not so great .076mm on 1,2,4,and 5 ...3 is .102mm
question is this all i have ever used is acl bearings....until now..it is apparent that i will need to go with oem. now i have no clue how to order the right bearings from somewhere like majestic honda. i know that there are letters stamped on the block, and again on the crank. what is their significant meaning and how can i get the right bearings....
i should also note this is not the original crank for this block.

ACL bearings are Honda's green bearing, which is letter D when ordering from Majestic Honda. The bearings increase/decrease in thickness by .0001" per half...at least the rods to anyway, so I assume the mains do as well. Take the measurments you have and adjust accordingly.

ok like i stated...bit of confusion here.
ok the block says 44444, so do i use the 4's at the top of the chart? or do i use the b's that are on the crank at the top of the chart? and then the 35553 down the sides?
if i use the 4's at the top i come up with
brown/black, brown/black, brown/black, black/blue, brown/black
if i use the b's i come up with
green/brown, green/brown, green/brown, brown/black, yellow/green
i know it cant be this confusing....its probably just that im tired and pissed off that i have to buy another set of bearings after waiting for Tom @ camp1320 to finally send me a set of 50mm bearings (4months i waited) h22's are not his specialty.

The numbers on the crank are for the mains and the letters are for the rods.
So you need C3, C2, C3, C3, B1 for your mains and Cx, Cx, Cx, Bx for your rods. Fill in the "X" with the numbers on the sides of the rods.

no problem just didnt want dude getting the wrong stuff.....now another question...if i were to get the colors it says i need...will it give me an exact clearance of .015 (damn near brand new spec)?
Hmm. That I'm not quite sure about. I had to hunt down my bearing size because my rods were reconditioned too big to go by the stamps. I would imagine though. I was supposed to need two brown and two green but ended up having to use black and blue. I've got a perfect .0015" clearance. I was getting about .0019" with the "right" bearings and I used the +/-.0001" per half method to zero them in.
what the heck is main journal weight? and 2 more questions...
1. i use the puper chart posted a few posts up right (the lower is rod bearings?)
2. what do you do when it sas green/brown for size? and would it be bad to mix acl and stock gsr earings? im about to pick up a sed of acl main, rod, and thrust bearings for 50 bucks...so it would cost less to do that and buy the few browns i need.

the chart i posted is h22 only and they are both main bearings...the top chart is for journal #1 and #4....bottom is for #2, #3, and #5. and what i meant by the main journal weight is the weight on the crank next to that journal in which the bearing size was stamped.
