Carfax disagrees with you.
1HGEJ8172XL810690
1999 HONDA CIVIC SI
COUPE
1.6L L4 PFI 16V
UNITED STATES
3 records found in our database
I'd search H-T and see if anyone has an unlimited Carfax account available to run the VIN for you and get access to those records. I just googled my way to this page and ran the URL through Carfax.

thanks. this sounds about right. it is a canadian car. the engine just blew in it. it is my friends car. and i dont know anything about the stock engines, im rockin a gsr in mine.
so now the next question is. does anyone know where i can find a relatively cheap used D16Y8?? so i can replace the one that is in there.

Wow...you have a GSR in yours... yet you didn't know how to check the engine codes on the block for your buddy! Give me a break. You would've known by looking whether it was a single cam or a dual cam even if you didn't know anything about Hondas.

well how about asking what the deal is, before you act like a bunch of ******* losers. first of all. yes, it is not a problem for me to look at the block code. that is, if i had even seen the car. i havent a chance to go take a look at it. second of all. the car was purchased second hand, and apparently had an engine put into it already. so if someone put something other than the stock engine back in. i wanted to know. therefore i would still need to know what engine came stock, regardless of what it said on the block. i just didnt see the sense in boring everyone with that useless information in the first place.
and as for talking **** about my GSR, you are more than welcome to put your money where your mouth is. anytime you want to autocross let me know.
thank you to all those that helped. i like the fact that people can use this as an information source when they need it.
but i dont see the point in the trolls here, who have nothing better to do with their time, than act like ***** towards everyone else on here. so grow up. if you really do have a car, than go out and drive it.

1 vs. 2 is a matter of where the car was built, not where the car is sold.
If a car is built in the US & sold in Canada it will still have a 1.
That's why all the last-generation Si Hatchbacks have VINs with a UK designation.
