H22 Swap Wiring Questions
For the people that know what is going on, this should be fairly easy. I want to put an H22 in my accord (97 accord lx auto). I also plan on switching the tranny as well so I don't waste a great motor. As far as the wiring goes, would going to a junkyard and finding a totaled prelude and taking the engine wiring harness out of it make my life any easier, or could I just run a few extra wires and use my stock wiring? And if I did that, wouldn't I need to invest in a VTEC controller? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Everything depends on the year or model of the Prelude. If you can find a junk yard that has a 97+ Prelude, then you'd be in good shape. OBD-II to OBD-I is kind of a pain. You will need to run wires for the Vtec since you probably don't have the solenoid. You will also need to re-pin some wires as well. For smog legal possiblities, it's required to have the same year or newer engine, but that's in California. Don't know how anywhere else is.
On another note, I believe the automatic Preludes 97+ are tiptronic as well, but you can use an older model tranny with a different tcu.
Lastly, if you'r looking into a VAFC, it's only a couple wire to run, but in my opinion is not all that great (can cause problems). IMO save for an AEM EMS or stand-alone system (you'll be happy with). If I missed some stuff, or got something wrong, feel free to correct me. Peace

I just not thought of this, but I was told that OBD-II was a requirement on all cars after 1996 (so 1997 models were equipped with OBD-II). Is this valid, or was this just a movement that started by other companies?
Nope, 97+ are definitely OBDII. You will have to do something about that. I know the immobilizer chip can be removed from the ECU but there is also some other stuff that you have to do.
