Axel boots, etc.. Where to find parts cheap and how do I replace them??>
Hey all,
My first time owning a front wheel drive car so I am new to the whole setup on the front end.
My concern is axel boots. The car is a 94 Accord LX Auto. I had new wheels put on my car and supposedly one boot by the tranny is cracking and leaking, and the other boot is by the wheel. Supposedly there are two boots???? One inside the other or something to that affect.
How much does it usually cost to have a shop do? Is there anyplace to find parts/kits for cheap?? Any sites on the net that tell you step by step procedures for pulling the axels and replacing the boots on both ends???
Any and all info everyone could give me is appreciated. I am on extreme limited budget right now since I Just had my auto tranny rebuilt!
Help!

You might as well replace the axle since repacked CV boots tend to slide... Don't purchase re-manufactured axles as they are chronically weak, and you'll find yourself in the same predicament you started in. Try http://www.driveshaftshop.com as they have Stage 1 axles for 5G Acords for $150. Labor is about an hour...
http://www.raxles.com may also carry just a boot kit. also check out auto parts stores like pep boys or something.
if your cv joints are okay, you might be able to just reboot/repack the axle and be fine. the only problem is you need a special tool to fasten the metal strap that holds the boot on the axle. i just rebuilt an axle cv joint a couple days ago. messy-*** **** but i don't foresee ever needing to buy a whole axle ever again!
