Default insuring the bucket

I have a lot of mods and an expensive paint job for my EF, but I spoke with my insurance (Progressive) and they refuse to offer me any coverage above liability. Is there an insurance company that would insure my EF, or some way of getting insurance for it?

Clean title or salvage title? Sometimes this matters

Wow they will only give you liability. I have state farm and have full coverage. It is one step below my truck.

I've got AAA and the Honda is insured as my second car. I've got full coverage and it was at a reasonable price. I had them photo document the car and even the fact that it's a Bar certified B18c.

ok, is there a list of things I need to tell them to keep my premiums low? As in, I drive this car on the weekends only, this was built up as a show car, is garaged, etc.

Will they insure my paint job?

Which is better, State Farm or Allstate?

yea first thing you need to do is never ever tell them you have motor work done to it. doing this will make your permium go through the roof.
i dont think they will insure your paint job though
and as far as which is better, state farm or allstate....they all will give different ppl different qoutes...for some ppl 1 might be better than the other...
good luck though i was having the same problem acouple years ago.

how about this, WHY are they refusing you coverage. there is a good reason for it most likely. by california law you have to be able to insure your car, they are telling you no for a reason so how about telling us that reason.

thanks for your response. Someone below responded that if I tell the insurer that I have a B18 swap, my premium will be sky high. Getting the Bar certified swap insured (I had to cough up a bunch of extra dough to swap a GSR head and intake package onto the R block, when they told me originally it was no problem) sounds ideal. But once I tell them I have engine work, will it cost me that much more?

no, i had reffed my B18 swap in my CRX and drove with it for years and i never told them. there is a reason. if you do total it and the motor was not BRAND NEW, or you cannot prove to them a complete rebuild, it wont do **** for the value of the car. i have worked in insurance doing total loss for about 5 years man, if you have questions, i have answers

I have a slightly O/T one for you. If Party A has an at fault accident with Party B, is Party A's insurance company obligated to pay for the repairs to Party B's car or simply the bank value?

You might look into custom car/show car insurance. Big Bucks!
Realize that if they go by the book you get bluebook for the car if the damage is more than bluebook you end up with it totalled and a salvage title. Unless they send an adjuster to look at the car and if he says it is worth $5000 and the damage is $3000 you you get it fixed. But if he says it is worth $2200 and the damage is $3000 you lose and you get 2200 minus whatever the salvage is to buy it back plus a salvage title.

If you have all of the reciepts they might give you more than bluebook, but it is like pulling teeth to get anymore out of them.

It is almost like they are stealing our **** from us damn thieves.
I have been going thru this crap for 5 months. Just to get the insurance claimsperson on the phone is a pain in the ***, I've been waiting three weeks and I have called them five times. Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
