jdm steering wheel . can u make the HORN work on a jdm wheel?
i got this on my car cant seem to make the horn work. cause i think i need to connect the srs. is it possible.?
i'm sure it's possible. but that doesn't mean it's easy, and i don't know how it would need to be hooked up...someone here has to know though
Yeah I'm having the same problem with my JDM steering wheel, and I took out my whole SRS system to put it in (it won't fit unless you remove everything, cable reel, ribbon connector, etc).
From the way I look at it, it seems like it uses the same function as the 88-91 civics since they didn't have SRS for that generation. There is one ground wire in the steering wheel itself for the horn, then there's a wire supplying power to a spring type thing that connects to the hub. This makes contact on the metal ring behind the steering wheel to make the horn honk whenever it is pushed.
I just know this much about how it works, it's trying to rig something up that get's me puzzled. I've posted a topic similiar to this before and didn't get any replies
i'm sure someone out there has a MOMO steering wheel or any aftermarket steering wheel in an EG that requires the same kind of setup.

The cable for the horn is IN THE REEL on srs hondas. so if you remove the reel to fit the wheel, there goes the horn. You now have to rig something up.
I noticed that too, but there is no way you can leave the cable reel on and put the JDM steering wheel over it because it doesn't have the holes required for the connectors to poke through like the SRS wheel. I tried tracing the wire that connects to the horn but there is no telling which one it is on that thin wire ribbon.
hmm, all this for JDM? haha but 3 spokes feels so much better!

easy to do, just get a thin piece of metal about 1/4" x like 1-1/2" and drill a hole at one end. using one of the holes that held the srs unit in screw down this piece of metal. attach a connector to one side of the metal and bend the other side up twoard the hub. This will make contact against the hub. Put some grease on the hub so it wont squeek. Run the wire connected to the connector to the horn wire. Presto your have a horn!. You might have to adjust it a bit but it will work. Sorry for the ugly diagram

take a picture of the back of your steering wheel? it may not have the copper ring like momo and sparco hubs have. if they do, the tip above will work. if they dont, it sounds like you need a jdm cable reel.
There is a very simple way to do this people.
I did it on my JDM steering wheel.
Go to honda and buy this part number:
35259-SH3-A02 It will be less than $5.00
It is called a shoe horn for the 4gen civics.
Slight modification will need to be done to it. As for wiring, go upside down underneath the steering wheel, and locate the connecter where the SRS unit was connected to on the bottom. the wire will be the far right of that socket. Just stick the wire in there, and you're done. If you want a more complete installation guide, just email me and I will give you directions and pics on how to do this.
