Default Problem with brake and reverse wiring after swap...

i just finished installing my b18a and converting to obd1. after everything is up and running i notice that my reverse lights are always on. i attribute this to maybe plugging in the two wires in wrong. so until i can get into the harness and swap it over i just take out the lights (hah). then i notice taht my brake lights are staying on, they barely get any brighter when i put on the brakes. what could cause this?

what should i check for the brake light thing? any ideas?
