Default CEL, lights wont stop blinking.

Ok i have a 96 coupe DX, the car starts, runs for awhile, then the check engine light comes on and starts blinking and wont stop. The cars seems to be putting or running like **** basically. When i hit the gas the engine light stays lit, when i let off it starts to blink again. What teh deal with this, anyone have any ideas?

Count how many blinking lights you see, and use the search on h-t. With the number you saw,

1 quick flash = 1

1 long flash = 10

this is for odb1.

that has nothing to do with a code. your car is running to the point that it is damaging the catalytic converter. on obd-2 cars the light will flash if it detects that you have a severe misfire that is damaging the converter. get the car checked up asap or kiss ur converter good bye

Sonds right, I took the oil cap off and there was exhaust fumes coming out the valve cover( i think, because it was a lot of smoke and it smelled like it). Like i said the car is running like ****, is the cat cloged up? Or what else could it be?

not that it is clogged, but there is a problem there that is severly damaging the cat. have you did a tune up. maybe you are having a lean misfire .

I think its running rich, there is black dust all over the rear bumper, and the tank was a little over a 1/4 full when i got the car, now its almost on empty, after just letting the car idle a few times. Bad map sensor? Bad o2???? whata ya think?

I'd hold off on anything until that point, except checking things like plugs/compression or other things that'll tell you what's up.

So here are the codes
P0301 No. 1 Cylinder Misfire
P0302 No. 2 Cylinder Misfire

I forgot the other one, i was something to do with the ignition module misfiring or something.

The car feel like the dizzy is wet and its arcing. I gonna change the plug wires and cap, see if that helps. Would that make the cel come on just from arcing? So then why does teh computer light stay blinking when im driving, is the mis firing getting worse when im driving?

Check fuel and spark first and if that doesn't fix the issue, you may need to do compression check to make sure the cylinders aren't bad.

like they say...check spark and fuel.

maybe it's your ignition module.
