Default never been asked weight reduction question

ok. i've spent hours reading archived threads, just for fun and information. the search button actually does work, imagine that..........but here is my question.... i know people have been doing weight reduction for faster track times, but i was wondering if there's any hardcore people reducing weight in their car and making calculations on if it makes a drastic improvement on mileage. it would seem to me that you would tell more mileage per gallon quicker than you'd be able to tell if you shaved off that 1/10 of a second off your 1/4 time. so anybody out there with some numbers of improvements on mileage shout out. thanks

im sure if you took out that big b series or k series and put a d series in with all that weight reduction the mpg would go up. lol

i'm in no way interested in beefing up my mpg, i was just being nosey about how much it would improve mileage. i just know to not drive my truck that weighs a good 4200+ lbs with a crappy 305 engine in it. lol

yes it does. if you stuck a LS motor in a crx and a LS motor in a stock integra, the crx will get like a extra 80+ miles. reason being is that there is not a whole lot of load on the motr with a lighter car. thus takes up less gas

your going to notice shaving time probilby easier then gas. if you shaved a few hundred pounds you would be suprised at your times changing. for instance get a friend in your car and race someone that has a equaly matched car. then kick your friend out and race again. you will be suprised at what a difference just your friend in the car does. but also you shouldnt be doing weight reductions if everything on your car is stock. your not going to be sweeped off your feet by reducing 30 pounds in your stock d-series civic. but you will notice 100 pounds in your turbo charged civic. if you want to notice good gas milage drive your car only at revs lower then 2000 and cruise around going 60 everywhere
