My 96 Accord Ex has 150k on the engine. The sound I think I am hearing sounds like piston slap. The motor does not burn any oil. All tune up parts have been installed recently at the dealer, including a new timing belt at 100k. Any ideas if there are any additives that may quiet the noise down? Any sugestions would be appreciated.

 

I had start up engine noise at 40-50k on my 06 EX-V6. It was piston slap. I saw the piston and cylinder wall! It is being repaired as I speak. Lucky it's a warranty job $$$$$$$

 

sure it isnt a valve adjustment? id put thicker oil in it, try 10w 40

 

noise from the top or bottom of engine?

 

I just purchased a 96 Accord EX w/ 100K on it. One owner, garage kept, timing chain and water pump replaced. I'm happy.


This has nothing to do with your post but I am searching out all 96 Accord posts so I know what to look for or expect.

 

94-97 Accords don't have Timing Chain, just so you know.

 

a little late but watch out for loss of compression, mine is currently suffering from it (almost 250k on dash)
