h22a cheaper than b18c?? hmm
ok guys, i have searched this alot of times and i still dont understand why h22's are faster and cheaper than b18c..i know that the h22a has alittle weak block but cant people fix that with some new sleeves?? i have a ek civic coupe and planning on putting in a b18c in it. but i found and researched on the h22's and they seem to be quicker and more torque.. but why is it cheaper. ?? anyone help, id appreciate it. thanks
the engines are cheaper because there isn't as big of a market for them. the cost of the swap is more because you have to do some custom work to get them in. its just not as easy as putting in any bseries motor. the motor has a lot of potential that i think people over look.
i speak for myself by saying this. ive had an h22 in my hatch for a few months now and i absolutly love it. its the funest thing ive ever drove, you just don't get the same feeling when you ride in anyother bseries swap. granted its very close to the type r as in 1/4mi times etc. but its just not the same feeling. at the end of the day its your choise on what you do. i believe all motor swaps have there down sides and some might view the h22 as too many, but at the end of the day nobody minds checking out an h22 hatch.

i just noticed that you have posted tons of posts about doing this swap. this post your talking about being cheap...in another post you talked about 500hp h22... please remember: pick two= fast, reliable, inexpensive. go into the Hybrid fourm. they have threads deciated to h22 swaps and information...
If you have the money go H2B. They pull like no other. Type R's are getting scarce because everyone has one that's why they're expensive. They're worth it though...great power and they take a beating. The stock H series trannies aren't very good and thats another reason why they are cheap. The H2B adapter plate is like $900 but wow what a difference. I've never heard anyone saying about an H series being weak...they have a tougher bottom end than any B-series that's why you see stock H-series taking as much boost as sleeved B's.
You have to beat in part of the shock tower on the driver's side. You need mounts(I think you can use B-series motor mounts). A traction bar. Adapter plate if you want a real monster. And you definately need a good clutch and pressure plate if you do H2B.

H22 is a sick swap...if you can actually install it. it does require alot of labor with regards to that of a B-Series, but if your down to put in the work, it will be well worth it...https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/650329...this thread helped me a ton when i was doing my swap...
