aprilia rs125
its really just a scooter that looks like a motorcycle. I think the differenace between the SR(scooters) and RS(bike) is that the RS doesnt have the govener that the SR has.
But yea unless you live in like LA or NYC a 125 is pretty small.

rs 125, expensive (for what is is)
2-stroke (will need to rebuild the engine, alot) easy to do though
insurance is probably high just cus there arent many around, and parts would probably be expensive
very narrow power range.
I'd say buy it and go racing, then get your self a real small capacity street bike for the streets.

UUUUUM... RS125 right? the apprillia one? that **** is pretty fast.
SCOOTER?? that is totally wrong from my perspective
caaause 1) aprillia makes good ****. the RS250 pops out 75hp
2) its a two stroke, totaly different from a fourstroke, its more like a 4-stroke with v-tech (LOL). when it gets in to the powerband, you will FLY. well, if you see from my sig, ive owned two-stroke motorcycles ONLY. (no big reason why only two-stroke, just havent got the chance to own a four-stroke yet).
well, i think people will be VERY impressed once they have a chance to ride a NSR or TZR or RVF or RSwhatever. those things are just HELLA fast, and basically, its made for track use (somewhat like a Teg R, a motorcycle that is aimed towards track use). maybe not the most hp, but when used the right way, the are as fast, or faster than the 600cc bikes.

i had 1 and loved it but they only do 110 mph. the 250 will blow a cbr round winding roads and do bout 140
they are not basically a scooter.....theyre nearer racing bikes than scooters

...the rs125 is not street legal...the rs50 is. the US outlawed 2 strokes over 80 cc for environmental reasons...there are a few out there that have gotten around the system, but they're rare and expensive...
True, true.... BUUUT
there are execptions
anything can be done, registering is easy. (me and my friend are in the process of registering a NSR250, brought straigt from japan)
he is saying he is getting a street legal RS125, so i guess its legal.
check out, NSR250.com
see how many NSR's larger than 80cc out there? yup, its not that hard to get it registered.

In canada, its easy as this.
1) make sure you have all the signals and stuff on
2) Register it under as a Custom Motorcycle
The hard part is getting the motorcycle in to the country. Since Canada doesnt allow any 2-stroke motorcycles in (if they find out, its either ship it back, or scrap it at the place), we had to take the motorcycle apart, put it in several boxes (in my case 10), and ship it. Then these boxes will be "parts" not a motorcycle.
After its in the country, its straight forward.

so Raz, what about insurance? would the insurance company cover something that's not in the book? like a NSR or RGV? and just one more question for you, how much would importing something like a rothmans/respol replica MC28 be around in canadian loonies? would it cost more than buying the F4i? thanks!
Yeah thats another BIIIG problem we are facing. Though it seems that some of the insurance companies do offer insurance for Custom Motorcycles. (havent got a quote on it or anything yet). The reason why im soo positive on all this is because, lots of other people have done it, so there should be no reason why we cant do it
Ill put details up on the board if I run into other problems.
OOOF rothmans MC28? thats hella expensive in Japanese Yen as well... it goes from anywhere in $5000-$8000cnd (400,000yen to 650,000yen is the prices ive seen them go for). shipping it over depends on what kind of shippig you do, but the cheapest you can go for is around $800. (my KSR was 10 boxes with two frames in buncha parts. my friends NSR250 was also around 10 boxes). Mine was with insurance btw. so i guess the MC28 woul.d go 5800-8800 cnd shipped.
now comes the question. Is it worth it?
well... that depends, for me, it was worth it. Wouldnt it be fun having a motorcycle different from everyone else? my KSR is the only KSR in north america probably, and its the first motorcycle i bough, so thought it was totally worth it.
