what does bore'ing your block do?
is there anybody out there that knows about boring out a block. ive been searching for a while now on thats the differences of it and what it does and still no luck. i want to sleeve my h22 and lower compression to 9.0 or 9.5 pretty soon. the problem comming across is something about a 87mm bore or 83mm or 89. im not sure what all that exactly is. im looking at golden eagle sleeves rite now, anyone know of some good pistons to go with it besides JE.
boring your block increases the diaplacement of your motor. you could resleeve your block with larger bores for bigger mm pistons. boring your block only normally results in thousanths opened up instead of bigger sleeves themselves those are mm larger.
boring a block is to open the bore up so that you can make sutre the bore is straight and the piston to wall clearance is dead on. h22 run between stock 87mm to 90+mm.
unless you use Mahle pistons and have the proper shop bore and hone the stock sleeves you must sleeve all H22's.
if you have a 92-95 H22 then you can simple put straight replacement sleeves for up to 500+Hp and if you have a 96+ H22 then it will require straight replacement sleeves and blockguard or closed deck sleeves.
golden eagle doesn't sell there sleeve because they have a special process for installing them.
darton sells sleeves which a very skilled shop can install. word to the wise, go to a reputable shop. we have had 100% success installing them so if you need help with it email me.
