Ask on a motorcycle forum.

there is allot of debate on whether or not to plug/patch on scooters.... the general rule is that if it is towards the middle of the tread like yours it is okay as long as there is enough tread left to justify the fixing of that tire. I however do not plug or patch any of my tires. your gonna need to ride her into a shop or take the rim off and drop the unit at reputable tire shop... don't attempt a fix without prior knowledge. mounting and dismounting is can be a bitch

A good tire store should be able to patch that easy but it requires removal of the tire and applying a patch to the interior wall. You can actually do it yourself with a large patch and rubber cement...if you could get access to the inside. It looks like you have a decent amount of life left to make it worth patching.

i picked up a nail in nearly the exact same spot last summer. I couldn't find anywhere to patch it, and Cycle Gear told me it's better to just replace. I don't feel comfortable riding around on a fixed tire, no matter how reliable it is. I'd rather have total confidence in the two wheels under me. Cycle Gear has good prices on tires, and will mount/balance them for like $14 if you bring them just the wheel.

I've plugged rear tires before...i wouldn't even expletive with it...if it were the front...however i have not had any problems with plugging rear tires, as long as its not on the sidewall.

Hope this helps.

(I rode at least 3k miles on a plug in my old rear shinko before getting a new tire..)

the issue, that should be responsibly explained, is that a puncher, and/or a plug displaces cords within the tire, it is not that the tire will not hold air or "blow out", it is that there can be a catastrophic failure/delamitation ... high lite "can be".

not even that much. you can get another tire for about 130 and get it put on for 20 more .

Get it patched and plugged from the inside and you're good to go. Looks like you got lots of meat on that tire left.

Go to Cycle Gear and get a new tire .. and with it, get their warranty on it.

I purchased a set of pilot powers from em for my RR .. two days later, my rear wheel looked exactly like yours. Other then paying for mounting and balancing, then replaced it free of charge.

i'd get it replaced personally. Nothing like a hot day and sticky asphalt to yank a plug out in mid turn...yikes!

i had a small tack nail in my tire...guy at the dealership pulled it out and it was fine...no patch. However, looking at that nail and getting a patch..Heck no.

Doing 150 w/ a patch would make me very uneasy.

dont get a bike if you cant afford to fix it properly.

plugging the rear tire is HALF-*** and unsafe no matter whos had "goodluck" with it and who hasnt

I rode around on my old gsx-r with a plugged rear tire and it held up just fine. My new RC51 came with a plugged tire and I had the rear replaced the very next day. I would NEVER trust a plugged tire on a motorcycle... no matter where the plug is located.

Looking back I still can't imagine why I didn't replace the rear tire on my gsx-r. For $200 bucks I'd much rather know I have a tire that won't blow up on me when I'm riding on the interstate.

when it comes to bikes, just replace the tire. It may be expensive but it is worth it in the long haul.
