need some ideas -- B18C1 won't start
recently had my engine rebuilt. I put the head on the block, camshafts to the head, etc, etc.
Set the #1 piston at TDC before installing cams. set those at TDC.
timing belt on. then tossed the engine into the car ('90 CRX w/ obd1; obd0 injectors).
Everything worked BEFORE the engine came out...
tried to crank it over and the starter is spinning the engine... except that's the only noise being made... the engine spinning.
So, here's what i've done:
- rechecked timing
- installed another distributor
- checked for fuel pressure (gots it)
- checked to see if #1 spark plug is firing
- tried regrounding a few straps
- used a different main relay
- checked all fuses
the only thing I haven't done is tried a different ecu. it seems like I'm getting spark/fuel/air.... i'm guessing timing is off somehow... but everything matches up. No wiring changes were done to the timing.
firing order is:
3 - 4
1 - 2
Correct? if so, i'm stuck... have no clue what to check next...

If you have not done so already, check the ground on the thermostat housing. Also, have you checked to see if the injectors are dumping fuel?

after struggling for awhile, a friend stopped by and gave this same advice. zero compression across the board.
So we adjusted the valves (never did it after installing the cams). once done, the damn thing fired up almost immediately!
