Default hey bense i won't to do a d16y5 in 89 crx hf. Anxiously awaiting completion of your projectyour proj

I have been looking around for low milleage d16y5 and d16b5 and have found that the d17a5(i think) from 2001 to 2005 gx are dirt cheap. The d17 vtec-e from 2001 to 2005 HX, with very little milage, can be had for alot less than d16y5.

I am intrested in great mileage and good preformace. Runabout (no raceing) fun.
Ether way I wonder what the mileage will be on a 1800 lbs slick car with a d16y5?

1. does d16y5 or b5 fit right in the 89 rex mounts and bolt up to the tranny?
I will need ecu and convert to obd1? Are there other problems with this swap.
If there is a forum on this swap please post.

2. With d17 i think i would need b type mounts, different ecu, a different
tranny and convert from obd0 to obd2. o yea you have the emobilizer to work around. duh!

I know there is more work to go from obd0 to obd2 but wireing was my game.

I also know that there is not alot more performance in the d17 vers d16 but man the d17 engines are allmost new and when you have fun with a d15b6 62 HP it don't take alot of power to make me happy.

What other difficult problems would i have with a d17 swap?

if there is a forum for d17 into a 4th gen please post

Search.

88-00 D series are compatible. They will bolt right into your crx, tranny and all. If it's a vtec-e motor, run a vtec-e ecu in my opinion, which would involve lots of wiring. (maybe obd2 conversion? )

If you are interested in good performance and great mileage, get a sohc vtec, that's what they were made for. Why make it harder?
