Search but nothing related to carpet weight...every one of the 63 hits in the archives are related to price and where to get it....I don't have any now because it didn't come with the car. I thought it might look a nice if I had some but .....I'd like to get some wieght calculations first to see it is even worth it. (If I had some I'd do it myself!)

 

well, in my searching for info about weight reduction, since thats what i am most concerned with on my new project, i have found most guys will tell you the sound deadening material that honda use on the floorpan is a lot more then the carpet.

ive had the whole carpet out of my crx's a few times, it could not have even been more then a pound or two, if that.

but that sound deadening material that people often chizzle out is rumored to weigh a lot more. that i've never done, but this summer im considering trying it.

Put it in, looks betta.

 

its probably more like 3-5 lbs.

depending on how much dirt you have in your old carpet.

 

When I pulled it out of my Hatch it weighed in at 10-11 lbs. Don't know how much less carpet CRX's have but it may help you get an idea of the weight.

 

Not that it makes a difference, but the Mk4 Toyota Supra saved 15lbs on the total weight of the car by having hollow fiber carpet.
Pretty cool.

 

CRX carpet doesn't weigh anymore than 4 lbs. I just put new carpet in mine last summer.

The sound deading stuff might weigh 10 lbs. But why scrape that out and not have carpet and have a loud *** car that smells like gas.

13lbs doesn't seem that important, if it is go on a diet and make up for it.
