Default which altentator do I use for my b20/vtec?

I have a 92 vx civic and was wondering if I could use that one or would I have to get one from a b18b1? I really need to know about this soon, thanks.

i am pretty sure all b-series alternators are the same but obd specific. so in your case, use the 92-95 b-series alternator.

So his altinator from his VX will not work with his new motor?

No sir, unless you can make some kind of ghetto way to make it work with the brackets on the b20 block and then find a belt to fit that. B-series alternators are not a whole lot, i actually think i have one laying around somewhere if he needs one.

I tried using the one off of my d series engine to put it on my lsblock, but the number of grooves in the pulley was different.

i am not sure of the 1st gen alternator, if it plugs up to the eg harness, then it should work...but i have never tried that one. as for the starter, you can use the starter that came with tranny for your eg.
