OK guys and gals, we got the registration page ready for our next track day. We have put the deposit down with Grattan for FRIDAY July 28th. Our event last week went very well even in the rain, so we decided to have another one. Here are the basic details:
-$135 for about 2 hours of track time (non-refundable)
-Helmet is required
-Lunch will be included this time (hence the higher price)
-4 groups of cars based on experience and vehicle
-passengers are allowed with a helmet
-we will be camping out the night before
For more detailed information and to register, check out the new website:
http://www.3ballsracing.com
PS A few words about the website. We are in the process of moving the website to a dedicated domain name. I will update the link when that happens. We are trying to make the registration process as easy as possible. We have created a new email (boracing@comcast.net) that all 3 of us have access to (the organizers) so we can answer questions faster.

BTW, I'm happy to say that a Supercharged Prelude was the fastest car of the day. Faster than any corvette, MR2, STI, or EVO. (The rain helped!)

Thats because I wasn't there
Sigh... I want to get to events... but I need weekend ones right now...
That and the powertrain is undergoing some dramatic changes.
For anyone wondering about this event... I went to the first one last year and had a blast. Well run open track day. No instructors... but I'm sure at this point there are people willing to sit in car and help out.
Just watch out for turbo miatas spinning in turns

haha,
This time it was the spinning STI's you needed to watch out for! I had 3 spin right in front of me!
BTW, we also have a chance to get Grattan on June 10th (Saturday). someone just cancelled. If you interested, let me know. If we get enough people we can set this up aswell.

Hi Dave,
Registration just opened for Putnam Park with Windy City BMW CCA the last weekend in August. The application isn't even on their website yet. If you're interested, IM me with your fax number and I can fax it to you.
If you can get your car ready in time, Northern Ohio BMW CCA is at Mid-Ohio Saturday-Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, and Chin Motorsports is there Monday-Tuesday. I don't know if either event is full yet.

wish i could make it, but no car + no money + moving another 600 miles away means no grattan for me this year - maybe next year.
free bump anyway.

The honda finishing in front of the STI is classic with that checker flag in the top corner. hehehe

Why? Grattan and Gingerman are two different tracks that, aside from being about 75 miles apart and having similar-sounding names, have nothing to do with each other...

I posted it becasue this is a honda board, and i think it's a cool pic with the prelude in front of the STI. Also, it's from a past event that we set up. So what's the problem? I don't get it?
I realize they are two different tracks. That's why I said it was from Gingerman! (wasn't lying or anything) Oh, your right about one thing, they are about 75 miles apart, but I disagree that Gingerman and Grattan sound the same.

Grattan was 100 times more fun than Gingerman! I have no urge to run Gingerman again now that I did Grattan. That's why we set it up here again.
Grattan has a sweet 160deg hairpin turn, it has the "S's", the toiletbowl (tight banked corner) off camber turns, a 1/2 mile straight, and 3 blind corners that are a blast! But the best part about the track is the right hander right after the "jump". Ok, it's not a jump, but a hill. Cars don't get air or anything, but when the motorcycles run in the opposite direction, that all pull wheelies after going over this hill. For cars, you need to start braking as you crest the hill, before seeing the turn. As you go over the hill, the car looses it's weight, and you have very little braking, (you think you won't be able to make the turn) then the car quickly gains it's weight back, stop on a dime, and make the turn! Awsome! There's tones off run off here. So no worries.
As for runn off in general, there is a lot. Our last event was in the rain, and you know that you can't stop on wet grass. well cars went 200- 250 feet out, but never hit anything. The run off is there where you need it! There is no room along the sides of the straight, but you don't need it there... your going straight...
We are having a 1/2 hour class in the morning for those who want it. and last time, we did a "touring session" for first timers at grattan to get their line, nad learn the track. touring a basically an under yellow 10 min session for everyone.
Sign up everyone!!! It will be the most fun you'll have all year! turst me!

grattan is much more fun than Gingerman but i disagree on the level of safety.
the end of the main straight is not very forgiving and with some newer cars having more horsepower than brains, people can get into trouble there. especially if they are not used to track days and have issues with their brakes.
that being said, i would spend $200 for Grattan before i'd spend $150 at Gingerman. i've done WMHM at Gingerman the last two years and enjoyed it but if I had to pick just one, it'd be Grattan.
i'll be there this weekend for the scca event. hoping to get into the 1:36's.

Tom,
I'll agree with you on that. The end of the straight is not forgiving... I was thinking more about area's where you'd spin off, but your right, I forgot about going straight, after the straight... Reliable brakes are needed.
