Just bought an EG with B16 running a P72 ECU, what is the best ECU to run in this setup?

Ok, the B16HMO is running a P72, and it seems to be running to rich....What is the best ECU to run in a B16, and what would be the stock ECU for a B16? If it helps the B16 is OBD1....thanks!
well the best ecu for that motor would be a p30(because it is the right one). but yes a p72 will run fine. I have one for my b16 that's tuned on crome pro and if I want(which I'm doing right now because of gas prices
)I have the option of switching it back to the stock program (because it has a switch on the side...got it @ hookups). It runs fine on the stock, but much nicer on the tune

Cool, I kind of want the stock for right now just cuz, I am going to try to get it Bar'd...thank for your in put...One more question, what is the difference between the two ECU's redline and VTEC engagement?
I honestly don't know the difference, but getting BARd you will need the p30 ECU. but when you go to get BARd make sure of these things:
good/new cat
good/new O2 sensor
fresh oil change
use the "gauranteed to pass" stuff
do a tune up and have all the wiring look OEM or better
But the most important thing is that the motor has to be the year of the car or newer

Thanks already started gathering all of the above...I am also going to try seafoam, I hered that stuff creates miricals...the EG is a 95 and the motor is a 99...It has stock exhuast, but has a SRI, I have a stock air box out of my 99 LS I hope it fits...I also has stock B16 headers, do you know if I need the Heat shield over the stock headers for Bar exam?

P30 & P72
- Same redline
- One x-over at 4400 (P72) and the other at 5500 (P30)

Are you sure a P72 GSR ECU VTEC engagement is 4400, cause on a stock GSR it engages at 5500 and redlines at 8100

Yes. VTEC engages pretty quietly, you hear the secondaries open up.

Will a P2T ECU out of a USDM '99-'00 Civic Si work, cause a P30 is JDM Civic SIR2...I am trying to pass BAR the first time around...
OBD-1 P30 or PR3 would be the factory ecu for that engine.
If you're going to BAR it you should probably look for a USDM P30.

Does anyone here have a link to an ECU site, where it shows engagements and performance gain, and what is compatable with what...
I don't know if this site will answer your questions, but it is one of the most informative websites on ECUs that I've ever seen.

With the advancements made in ECU tuning, there is no reason to go trying to swap ECU's from different B series cars.
The best thing to do is read the link above you for like a month straight, then go get an OBD1 P28 ECU and start tuning yourself. That is where performance gains will be found.

I have a stock b16a2 on my ek and just wondering what the best ecu to use. I got an option of using a obd2b p73 ITR ecu, or a obd1 p30 ecu. What would you use???

Take the obd2b p73 ITR ecu only if you are going to tune it down the road. Take the obd1 p30 if you are obd1.
