bearing reading at .0010-.0011"
hey guys, I have a question about a bearing reading I got using plastigage.
With the help of b19coupe, I've picked up on how to plastigage and had my questions answered and cleared up alot for me.
I was recomended to have my bearings between .0015" - .0020"
now what is the lowest limit to have for a bearing?
I had 3 out of 4 bearings range in about .0015"-.0020" but one bearing was around .0010"-.0012"
Now I know people are going to say "replace the bearings and I am going to do so, but what is the lowest tolerable limit to have for a bearing?
I realize .0008 would be really thin, so would .0010-.0011 be ok? or is there a limit the bearing has to be at to be replaced?

I wouldnt go any closer then .0014 personally , you can mix match a top or bottom to be off by 1 color if needed.. so if your at .0012 you might be able to just change 1 half smaller 1 color and get you close
hey Tbone..thanks for the response
got another question
My B18b on the rods had these #'s. 2,3,3,3
I realize those will tell me what bearings I need from Honda...but what if I get ACL standard bearings? I heard the standards are equivalent to green bearings.
If I did get the green bearings, would bearing #2 still be a tighter clearance compared to the rest?

found another site with ACL standard bearings for a decent price

I just did a .0013-.0014 in a motor here and i dont like it, too much force is needed when spinning the crank by hand, when I loosen that cap it frees up. Now this can be many other things causing the tight feeling but as soon as that cap's loose it frees it up alot.

What bearings did you plastigage already?
Regular Acl bearings are all the same size. Not like Honda bearings, so you need to take other measures to get the desired clearance.

we plastigage'd the stock bearings.
So far I've placed an order for the ACL standard size, green bearings so hope they give me good readings across the rods
