Default Questions on the Pilot

Ok, The pilot comes in 2wd and 4wd. Is the 2wd fwd or rwd? In the 4wd models, can the 4wd be engaged or is it like an awd system? Also what is the button under the hazard button for? I can only see it in pics and its small.

The 2wd is FWD..

4wd is a AWD system, nothing to push. I'm not sure if they have VTM-4 locking differential like the ridgeline (doubt it).

Don't know about the button

The 4WD version does have a "VTM-4 Lock" button. This is the button you see under the hazard switch. There is a passenger airbag indicator under that. On the FWD model, the VTM-4 button isn't present so there's just the hazard switch and the passenger airbag indicator.

Actually the pilot was the first Honda with VTM-4.
But new for 2006 the Pilot is available in 2wd models.
All Pilots are front wheel drive (under normal driving circumstances unlike the CR-V whch is AWD all of the time). As soon as the front wheels slip the rear clutch packs lock in and the truck is in 4WD. The VTM-4 lock button "locks" the rear diff for slippery hill climbing or sand.

I think on all the 2wd models, it drops firing cylinders in cruise mode, like the van..
