Default HELP!!! EP3 A/C NOT Working...Thermo Switch???

ok so my sisters 02 si hatch was takin to a shop for the AC, and her tranny keeps popping out of gear...she took it to a shop where her boyfriend used to work, and he knows the guy...well this guy doesnt seem to be a very good friend...he was just supposed to look at the car, witch he said he would do as a favor to my sisters boyfriend...well after he looked at it he said the car needs 3 new motor mounts(understandable)...and it needs a new thermo switch...but he also performed some services without consent from anyone, and is now charging my sister 200 for testing wiring, inspecting the mounts, and adding freon, witch ended up not needing to be done....so shes mad cuz she shouldnt be paying...but the guy is also saying its gonna be about 1100 for the entire fix....

now i can do motor mounts for her so that will illiminate some of the labor/parts fees...but about this thermo switch...what is it, where is it, is it expensive, is it hard to replace???

please help if u can

Maybe he's talking about the thermal expansion valve.

http://www.aircoparts.com/INFO/EXPANSION.htm

^ brief explanation on thermal expansion valves and their purposes.

http://www.innerauto.com/

You can get alot of general knowledge from those links, but you really need to invest in a tech manual to do the job. The links will enlighten you on the termonology. GL

Becareful... them son of bitches shops suck ***. My brother's car has to go in for a replacement clutch and came out ok. BUT! I think they were ******* with the A/C and some how the A/C compressor locked on us a few days/week later. That was hell because the A/C stopped working and locked up on us. When that happens... the belt spins and spins, which in turn causes it to heat up and start to break down. After the belt snaps... your fucked because it is connected to the cooling system for the car. I had to pay 30 bucks to get it towed to the shop I was heading to get the A/C fixed.

My brother's car is an 03 Civic Si... biggest POS I've ever seen from a new car.
